Travel for less than 1 year on i-551 stamp

Hi, my first post here. Filed for a family based visa and recently got to the US. Got the temporary i-551 stamp on the visa at the airport. On the visa it says: upon endorsement serves as temporary i-551... . I would like to know two things relating to what if I had to travel abroad to the country I came from and return before a year is up. firstly, will the physical green card come in the mail even after i leave. and secondly if it doesnt will the stamp be sufficient evidence upon entry back in the US at JFK.
