Hi

I have a question for any of you that are doing the AOS process and have had your medical exam.

I was sent an RFE for my medical exam, which I couldn't get an appointment for before we sent the paperwork, so I sent the forms and all other evidence, and had to wait for an appointment for the medical exam... I am having it done this week and will send it right away.

The place I am taking my medical exam told me that I could get all my vaccinations and blood work done at my dr, since I have medical insurance that will cover a lot of it.

When I went for the vaccinations I couldn't prove I had back in the UK, I also found out that I have Hyperthyroidism... My thyroid is working over time... I am having treatment with my dr, and have been referred to a specialist... what isn't paid for by insurance, we will cover... So I am hoping this shouldn't cause any questions???

My first question is if this will cause a problem with my medical exam. Will the USCIS approved dr make a big deal of this or should I not be worried?

My other question is regarding the TB skin test. I have had this done at my dr, and am due to go and have it 'read' tomorrow. I have a feeling that it is positive (it;s raised and fairly red), and the nurse who did the test said that there is a chance this could happen since I had the BCG about 15-16 years ago when I was in my mid-teens (common practice there in the UK).

I have a feeling I will be sent for an x-ray...

Should I be panicking, or is there a good chance that my medical exam will be ok?

ps - I had the following vaccinations/tests:

MMR

Tetanus

Hep A

Hep B

HIV & RPR blood test - both negative

TB skin test (results tomorrow).

Thanks in advance for your advice and comments... I really like how much support this forum offers!

:)

Your profile says that you are IR/CR-1 but I think this should be in the AOS section.

Aside from that...

The medical exam is primarily to find out transmittable conditions. Sometimes the panel physician will care if you have any sort of health problems at all but so long as the hyperthyroidism is under control you should be alright. Be sure to get a letter from your doctor stating that they are aware of your condition and you are undergoing treatment and that should suffice.

As for the TB- if you have to have an x-ray you have to have an x-ray. That will show that you definitely do not have TB and that the skin test results were due to the vaccine. Nothing to worry about.

If your TB skin test comes back a false positive (which is likely since you have had the BCG vaccine), insist to them that you have an x-ray to clear up the false positive, AND if possible ask for the Quantiferon Gold blood test too. http://www.cdc.gov/tb/publications/factshe...testing/QFT.htm

Neither of these tests will give false positive results like the Mantoux skin test does
