My only real disagreement with PopRocks are her comments on "generalization."

Generalizing isn't always a bad thing. If you say, "My co-workers are idiots" that is a generalization. Are all of your co-workers idiots? Probably not. However, you've made that generalization based upon past experiences. If you thought about it more, you'd pick out which co-workers are idiots.

Look at the Canada Forum. We often say that this forum is "more polite and well-behaved than other forums, especially OT." Is that true? Sometimes it is, but this forum has its share of rowdiness and jerks. It's a generalization to make the above statement.

Generalizing keeps us sane. The human mind can't detail everything. We make generalizations as guidelines to follow based upon our life experiences. We can break down these generalizations into more specific categories when needed, but until that situation comes up, we use generalizations to help us function in society.

here's a generalization for you: i've never met a booby that i didn't like :P

Poprocks, I really have to start this one with "I have friends that are dancers..."

*clears throat*

I have friends that are dancers and have heard a lot of stories. If I go to a strip club now, I spend almost as much time trying to pick out the really creepy perverts as I do watching the dancers.

As for my husband, since he's always insisted that he's against the concept of strip clubs, I'd be pretty worried if he started going to them. I'd need to know what changed his mind. He confuses me. He's totally fine with porn but not strip clubs.

Poprocks, you are a great writer!! I truly was enlightened by your post. There is alot of generalizing going on from everyone in this thread, but of course that will happen, everyone has stereotypes and bias whether they choose to admit to it or not. I never would have thought that the highest drug use is from other professions, but what got me thinking is how many strippers/strip clubs are there out there?(Of course it depends on the geographic area..etc..etc) In proportion to the lawyers, blue collar workers, hair dressers...etc..etc. There is definitely going to be the "good" and the "bad", I think most women and men realize that when it comes to strippers/strip clubs, unfortunately you hear alot of stories of the ones who do "extra favors", and both sexes tend to focus on the "bad". Not saying its right or wrong, but thats just how it is. Pick another subject and the same conclusion will happen.

I didn't see many negative posts about strippers here at all. There are 2 or 3 people who wandered in with very negative comments - but mostly it's either - hey I don't care if my Husband goes to see strippers or hey I don't really like the idea - by and far the majority of the comments have been about different ideas people have about their relationships - which really has nothing to do with strippers.

In light of that - I don't think that is the conclusion for this group of people - which is nice really!

I keep a creep-o-meter in my charles.

On a more serious note, one guy found out where one of my friends lived and wouldn't leave her alone. I can't imagine working somewhere where you get security to walk you to your car.

Geesh, I wish I had a creep-o-meter about 10 years ago! Would have saved me time and headaches on half the guys I dated lol!

Question for you all, if someone approached you right now, this very second and said 'quick, it's your first day of work at the strip club and you need to pick a stage name?'

What would it be?...I know that trick about using the name of your first pet as your first name and the name of the first street you first lived on as your last name. So give us both that one and then your secret fantasy name.

My pet/street name would be 'Muffy Kerwood' lol and my fantasy name would be 'Star'

Nice and cheesey for ya eh? Haha!

You're nicer than I am...if 'Creepers' approached me in bars back in the day, I would start talking another language and just walk away lol!
