If you get a call from one of your friends to meet with them for dinner at a restaurant, are you going to expect them to pay for your meal?

If it is customary for Filipinos to pay for the friends if they invite them to a dinner or party, how do friends plan get-togethers where everyone pays for themselves?

No not really. Unless they going to tell me that it's their treat . But I think i'm still gonna bring extra money just in case their just bluffing lol. Anyway, back in Philippines before with my friends... Most of the time we always split our bills everytime we went out, unless again if one of us really insist to pay it by her self .

Usually, when we meet with filipina friends here, we pay our own bill and they pay for their own. :-D

If it's a male friend that invites, I expect him to foot the bill, naturally. If it's just a routine meeting with the regulars, then we go Dutch. By the way I don't go out for dinner with just females only.

I will always contribute whatever amount I can but if my friend insist on paying the bill - it's his/her choice. Maybe next time I will be my turn to invite him/her.

well....... it depends... if we are invited then the person who did the invitation will be the one to pay for our dinner but if its a get together party organize then there will be a contribution....

whom ever invited me for dinner pays..... at least expected ....if they are my regular friends...we'd talk about half-half bill...but doesn't usually happens that way. its about knowing each others vibes already so more or less i know beforehand if its a split bill or not.

if a complete stranger or new acquintance (and s/he initiated the dinner), i expect him/her to pay the bill.

if iam the one who invited, i take the bill.

I'll make it clear and ask her/him "are you going to pay my dinner"? ( if no, that's fine by me, if yes, thanks!)

In that case,usually everyone pays for themselves, unless someone will tell " don't worry I'll pay for everything" because I have so much money at this time.

If I invite someone out to dinner I plan to cover the check. If someone invites me out to dinner I do not automatically assume they will pay, but give them the opportunity and if they want to go Dutch no problem. Remember time spent sharing a meal is a nice thing not necessarily the food and definitely not about money...

If I got an invitation for dinner from my Pinay friends, we go dutch too.
