Actually, if Congress has their way, and the "poor" sap makes 1.2 billion, and lived in Oregon, he would be paying 720 million in combined Federal, state, and local taxes, leaving him around 480 million to spend on life's neccessities.

Not sure where you get your numbers, but IMO it doesn't matter a lot.

Cause I'm still not feeling the poor sap's pain.

He can always move from Oregon to somewhere with lower taxes. If enough wealthy people leave high tax local jurisdictions, they will get the message.

You are exactly right, people can reject one overtaxed or mismanaged area of the country for another... and this is why I reject peoples suggestion that we need a bigger Fed. Gov't.

With a Big Fed Gov't , calling the shots, you can't escape it without leaving the country.

AS clumsy as local Gov't can be the overall benefit is well worth it.

Ohhh... Poor... poor rich people.

I know... I really feel for them. NOT.

If white males are under siege in this country... imagine being a white male who's rich.

Oh the horror.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Actually the cost of living in the UK is higher than most places in the world.

Prove that statement.

Impossible to prove, as the cost of living varies greatly by area.

In case some of you are not aware "London" is not the UK.

London is expensive, but living in some place like, say, the East Midlands would be cheaper than living in much of the Northeast, California, probably Chicago and a few other places.

A similar report put Oregon's combined rate around 60%.

The top rate in New York City, home to many of the state's wealthiest people, would be 58.68 percent, the Washington-based Tax Foundation said in a report yesterday.
