I hate a movement that tries to tie 'christian values' to a 'strong economy'. And that is what conservatives do.

You're beyond confused as these issues don't really mesh.

I also hate a movement that tries to convince me that the economic principles of the last 30 years have been good for the majority of the US population when the evidence is abundant that it has not been. When you can show me empirical evidence that the common man (85% of us including you) has more buying power with his dollar than he did before trickle down economics, then I might buy into your Tea Party nonsense.

There's been a loss in median real earnings since 1974 and Reagan wasn't prez until 1981 and we can assume Clinton also earns your wrath, too. If you can tell us how Obama massive spending and record unemployement is helping let us know.

When you were a little boy, your parents didn't have to pay for your health care out of their wages because it was affordable for your dad's employer to offer him that benefit in exchange for a good days labor. Your dad didn't have to worry about his job being outsourced overseas because his employer would rather pocket profits and take stock options instead of investing in job creation.

Most people have employer health care and you're cap n' trade stuff/higher taxes/national healthcare is sure to accelerate the push to move operations overseas.

I'm sorry if this is so harsh. But yes it's the way I feel. I was paying attention the entire time I've been an adult. I'm tired of so many my age who have not.

I had to be harsh, too, but you've got some pretty weak reasoning or mostly no reasoning at all. You have no alternative aside from punishing the wealthy to make those with less money somehow feel better while giving more power to the state.

You are being led around by the nose by the same CEO's and political geniuses who have been stealing you blind for the whole of your working life. They do invest in job creation, just not here. If you want to blame someone, blame globalization and countries like China.

The main problem with the Republican party today is that the core of the party only represents probably 1/3 of Americans & they constantly label, stereotype & bash the other 2/3. Believe it or not I was a Republican back in the 80's and early 90's (Reagan & Bush Sr) but from my perspective the party went downhill fast after that. If they want to restablish dominance the Republican party has to (IMO) move away from the Limbaughs, Coulters, Palins, etc (i.e. seen as extreme right by a lot of Americans) & move towards the center on some issues (like the environment). Being fiscally conservative would be fine however.

Just remember back to the Reagan years & the "Reagan democrats". My point is that Reagan could reach across party lines & get things done. I don't see that ability or even desire amongst many leading Republicans today.

Alot of you posters on this topic with PH profiles , is hard to believe you can find a woman in PH , most if not all are VERY conservative and VERY religious. i wonder if your telling them about your socialist views.

Who said I was a socialist? Also what exactly is a conservative? The terms conservative & liberal are abused so often these days they have lost all meaning. I am clean-cut, come from a middle class family, I am a Major in the Army, have a masters degree, believe in family values & personal responsibility, etc. I busted my #### to get where I'm at & I did a lot of it by myself. If you just met me & only knew this about me wouldn't you assume I was a conservative Republican? Don't be so quick to slap labels on me, especially when those labels really don't mean much these days.

That ending to your little soliloquy was pretty cheap. Good luck to you and your wonderful wife dude.

Don't confuse 'conservatism' with blindness. Because that's where you are at.

I'm sorry if this is so harsh. But yes it's the way I feel. I was paying attention the entire time I've been an adult. I'm tired of so many my age who have not.

Please, show me where the tea parties mention Christian Values and tie it with a strong economy.

Your example of how are parents lived compared to ours? Ok, when you were a kid did you have a lifestyle like you do now? Two cars, a TV in every room and the ability to go to a store any get just about anything you want? When I was a kid all we had were the basics and were happy with it. The consumers themselves made things the way they are. Conservatives didn't do it. We demand the lowest price so we can get more "stuff" and to meet that demand business started outsourcing and moving factories. The only "blindness" here is your own.

Ok, why don't you tell me what YOU think a conservative is then. I mean, I told you what I think even though you buggered out on what you think.

And why would you think that I believe there was anything wrong with the lifestyle my parents had and provided for me when I was a child? So what that we didn't have two cars - we didn't need them because Daddy made enough money that Mother didn't NEED to work. TV in every room is better than one TV in the whole house? Nor sure I would agree with that. We had plenty of stores where we could get what we needed - they just weren't open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Oh and you left out that one big thing I pointed out - health coverage. Free to my parents. Nothing out of their pockets to cover the entire family. No copays - no deductibles - no pre existing conditions. Because the employer could AFFORD to provide it for my Father's good days labor. I'll trade a car and a bunch of TV's for that anyday.

Where on earth you come up with the concept that consumerism drives outsourcing is beyond me. Who makes the decisions to shut factories? It isn't the consumer - it's the CEO. And globalization is no excuse for the complete change in business practices either. Modernization, mechanization, and technology have been changing the landscape of business for 150 years. But in the past you didn't see such reckless disregard for longevity of business in the name of today's profits. Bad decisions keep happening in the name of today's share prices. If American business continues to turn over and play dead in the name of 'globalization' there will come a time when not only will we have nothing to export, but we will have no citizens with any money to buy the imports.

You need to get it out of your head that this is a battle of Conservatives against Liberals. You need to get it out of your head that the tax hikes the Tea Party participants cry about are some sort of stain on your liberties. In order to do that, you better check just exactly who it is that has been carving away at your ability to feed your family and put a roof over your head. It sure as hell isn't the US government save for the horribly egregious errors they have made in lavishing tax breaks on business owners with no one's best interest in mind save their own.

And back to the OP and where this discussion has devolved, the idea that the Right is now starting to come so unglued as to threaten revolution if they can't win via democratic process is treason. Time to start calling it what it truly is.

The Republicans holy grail is 'let the economy fall apart under Obama and the Democrats' as if like a man who has totaled his brand new car he has a right to complain the mechanic won't have it ready for him the very next day. And when he points to the still remaining unfixed damage the day after feels that properly blame for the damage belongs to the mechanic. Good luck with that tactic guys.

I would hardly call the Republican contingent 'unrepresented' on the Hill.

Indeed. This insanity will not stop until people stop voting for Republicans *or* Democrats.

They are part of the same corrupt regime.

Exactly.

It is also quite moronic to debate something on the basis of opinion alone or whether it is "constitutional" or not. Actually it's freagin stupid. Most civilized countries hire professionals to formulate the best strategy based on the latest research.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Nope, the patriots are the ones who support the constitution and the principles of the Founding Fathers.

The first revolution was brought on by excessive taxes and and oppressive government. The second one will be for the same reasons.

Gary I regularly visit George Washington's house in Mt Vernon. Was there the other day. One thing I can say is that this guy was a innovator. Trial and error as well as progress was in his blood. If you think this guy had the same principals as modern republicans or democrats, you are mistaken. Republicans seem to hate any form of change. Conservatives and center-right wingers in Aus on the other hand are the beacon of change. We love efficiency and applying modern (innovative) practices. Something akin to George Washington. A General who loved efficiency and to improve.

All I hear from Republicans is how we should lower tax for the rich, less government, more in military ($780,000,000,000 annually is clearly not enough) and basically opposition to any form of change (progress). That is what bankrupted this freagin country. Who the hell starts two wars and doesn't even bother working out how to pay for them or raising taxes to pay for them? That is dumber than GM killing their electric car or putting all of their eggs in trucks or dumbiUVs.

Highest taxing countries also have the best living standard, are federalist and quite social in nature. That is fact. These countries have proved beyond reasonable doubt that together we do better approach works. Furthermore, they have shown that while the each to their own approach may have work in 1800's but it does not work in 2009. It is America's Achilles heel.
