I have not logged in to my USCIS status in awhile, I've just been checking it under "Case Status Search". I finally logged in today and noticed that the "Last Updated" date was yesterday, 07.17.2009. Since I have not been checking this, does this mean someone is looking at my file? I did not receive an email notification about my case being updated. I did reset my password today 07.18.2009 but don't think that is the reason since today is 07.18 and it shows 07.17... Anyone know anything about this? I think I'm just getting anxious...

This is what it said about the Last Update date:

* Note on "Last Updated" date:

Your case may have a new "Last Updated" date and you may receive an Email Notification of your case being updated, without the status of the case changing. This is due to internal USCIS processing being performed on your Case. This will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date, but may not result in a different status message.

The Last Updated date changes when the bar code assigned to your file/case is scanned - we on VJ call this a Touch. Could be someone was doing something with your file (anything from counting/inventory, moving locations or even someone Adjudicating it).

Based on your timeline - it could (emphasis on 'could') mean they're looking at your file.

I am going thru the same phase..

is there another spot to check status besides

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/caseStatusSearchDisplay.do

You can register (same place as your link) and create a portfolio so you can check just by logging on rather than simply putting your case/receipt number in each time.

Thanks Otto and Karin for the explanation. Yay! I got a 'Touch'! Hopefully good news is on the way... :innocent:
