As my wife lived in ireland for the last 2 and a half years she never filed for 2004 and 2005. As we do not want to get into any trouble with irs we are looking to overcome this and get the returns done.

I rang the irs international tax hotline number but it was like calling USCIS. It was customer service and the guy didnt really know what he was on about. He was just asking questions from his computer. As the questions became more complex i asked him to expalin as i havent a clue about the american tax system. He just asked the question again!!!!!

Does anyone know what steps have to be done to file for a foreign income. I was checking and she may be exempt as she lived 330 days in the last 12 months abroad.

My wife when she was filoing in april sent her tax documents to the family accountant but he just made excuse after excuse. He didnt know what to do with them and how to file. Now the the tax returns may be needed due to whenever i get my rfe as i only gave 2003.
