 @ the cow picture.

I have always wondered about cows- they are really cute (and tasty) but they aren't very bright animals. Can they survive on their own in nature? I know- that may seem like a dumb question but I have always wondered. I have never heard of wild cows. What did cows do before people came around?

Hey Stacey! A lot of animals aren't the brightest, but function very well on instinct. Cows (as in domesticated ones) have been really bred for thousands of years and had a lot of instincts lessened in them over time. Still, you don't want to mess with a bull.... Cattle do run quite fast though (even now-- stampedes!), do herd (which is an instict which also functions for protection), and will startle, etc. Before people came around they just did their thing, but were not as robust/meaty/hefty. We've been working on their size. There are several species of domestic cattle or cattle that have been domesticated, but for wild analogies think buffalo, water buffalo, orachs, etc. That would be similar to wild Bos taurus behavior.

/the first use of my 30-page zooarchaeological paper on the domestication of cattle, ever.

Julianna, this post made me insanely happy. I love cows! And now I know something my soon-to-be-studying-evolutionary-biology-and-anthropology-teenage-son doesn't know.

Not suprising.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

For reals and seriously, I am a PM away if you ever need anything.. I am physical anth but studied archaeology really heavily, zooarch, biology, chemistry, physics, genetics, ethnobotany, and probably any other direction he'd want to go with that. :)

I'm the USC, and a proud one for that matter.

So you're a proud US citizen; so proud that you choose to get an education in another country, eh? I am offended that you appear to be suggesting that as a US citizen you have a right to complain about what a PR does with his time and where. The arrogance in your posts is palpable. NOT becoming at all, I might add. It's as you believe you are of a higher order!~ Well, I hate to burst your bubble and all that, but when it comes to PRs they have all the rights that US citizens have (except for becoming the US President, of course). For heavens sake, don't come back and tell us that you are running for office!

I'm not offended that the OP complains about stuff : complaining about stuff is simply exercising the hallowed and protected First Amendment right to Free Speech - something all USCs are entitled to. How USCs use their speech is another matter- if a USC says something entirely moronic, he/she has done two things - exercised a constitutional rights, and made a moronic statement.

Oh, and an LPR does nto have the same rights as a USC - an LPR cannot vote or run for any office, not just President. You have confused the concept of a naturalized (as opposed to natural born) USC, who cannot run for President.

 there's the voting in national elections and in some states (kansas for one) a lpr cannot get a cch.
