Waiting time

I tried to log in to my USCIS website to check my status but I couldn't get into my account so i called the customer service thinking since i couldn't get my status online that might mean i have been approved or they are updating my status to reflect the approval only to be told by the customer service person [i finally got through to a human] that I still have to wait for 73 more days because right now VSC is dealing with December petitions. I am really tired of all this waiting. I told her i will be out of the timeline in 73 days and she said to call back if that happens [as if i will get a human to answer my questions again] I told her why are people who filed after me getting their approval if they are truly working on December petitions, she couldn't answer the question. I don't really make a fuss about things but I am just frustated, can't go for a visit cos i don't have vacation time nor the money for that right now. This is truly frustrating, is there anything i can do right now [Please don't say you need to be patient] I am already doing that and believe me it's not fun. Just needed to vent. :crying::(

So you can't see your status on USCIS.gov at all? or it is simply 'pending'?

Note: The whole "December" thing simply means there are petitions that old that they are still 'working on' - doesn't mean (as you already know) December filers are all the most recent petitions they're working on.

Your timeline indicates a possible adjudication date range which is usually pretty accurate - you should be getting close now. Hang in there - this is the hardest part.

hello there! I know exactly how you feel but you are not alone in this process. It is terribly hard to just sit idle and nothing that we can do, our future is now in the hands of the USCIS and we are powerless, I hate that feeling as well.

It looks like you have a mid march NOA1 and nobody has been aproved ahead of you yet. I think you are looking at the CSC timelines. It looks like they are working on the February apps now at Vermont. There is only one guy that got lucky and got aproved at VSC with a NOA1 date of March 3rd.

It is kinda pointless to talk to USCIS over the phone. Unless you talk to an officer, the people on the phone do not have more info than what you see online.

wouldn't it be funny to find out that the call center has been outsourced overseas and they have only access to the same system we do? reminds me of that movie "outsourced"

Just think,

The guy on the phone could be a neighbor of a SO... as we are home cursing the guy our SO could be eating lunch in the same cafe that he is... Heck they could know each other and have no idea... IMO calling USCIS in most cases is just a path to frustration... I understand why some get completed before others as they are not all the same case and some take longer to process than others... I wish I understood why they feel the need to leave the USC out of the loop and not be more accessible during the process. communication is the key and they dont communicate well if at all... if there is an issue, then let the USC know what it is and address it... in so many cases it seems like they put the file on a shelf hoping the USC will go away and the case will go away as well... not likely... I see some VJers that have been waiting for NOA2 for more than a year.... that is ridiculous and the USC has limited recourse.

I agree with you that it's an eye-rolling event to be told "just have patience." I'd never tell someone that who is going through this process. I suggest, while waiting, to gather all the information for the interview (ds230, ds156k, I-134, ds157, more evidence, police record, cert of no impediment to marriage). That's one thing we did to pass time while waiting. Then I finished that in March and STILL no NOA2, so I started filling out paperwork for AOS. By the time we got NOA2 (last week), some of the paperwork I gathered in Feb/March was out of date, so I got it again. But the second time around was faster since I knew exactly what to do.

Or, The Other End of the Line, which I watched last weekend. It's about a credit card company that outsourced their call center to India, but the people working had to pretend they were in various cities in America. They'd take classes to know more about their city and to perfect their American accent. I enjoyed the movie, except for how it misrepresented the process to visit America.

I'd add that if it takes a while (5+ months), you can engage your senators and congressman. Often times, that will have no result on your case, but at least it gives you something to do.

Hi:

I am a February filer and our case just got approved at the end of June. I won't tell you to be patient, but just be mindful that everything happens for a reason. What I will say is have faith. The other advice that I will give you is that if you are not "satisfied" with what the first operator told you at USCIS or even if something doesn't sound right, keep calling! Maybe the next person will tell you something different. Its just like if you need major surgery and you don't like what the first doctor told you, get a second opinion! I went into the first process thinking it would take six months from the date I filed until the 2nd NOA and it doing so, imagine my surprise and joy when it came in 4 months... Keep the faith. You are not alone...

Hope this helped ease your pain some! God Bless....

I see a great many folks on VJ that have NOA1 far before Dec 30 08 and they are still being processed.. this makes that Dec 30 date BS... IMO.... they have a goal of 6 months and I think they just pick a date close to that goal... makes it look better on paper, but not reality...

When it comes to getting info from USCIS, its like calling and getting John Lovitz on the other line saying " December 30 2008... yeah thats the ticket" I can imagine a character like that running USCIS.
