Philippine marriage requirements

Please forgive me for not searching thru all the forums for the answer to this simple question i have,,,but i am beyond frustrated at this point,,,,,

heres the big question:

Is it really a requirement to get married (as the Manila Embassy website states) "in the town or city where one of the parties is a resident" ?

This has got to be some sort of a mistake, right?

I mean people go get married in glorious settings in the countryside or on an exotic island resort all the time right?

Right?

that's wrong...

but marriage licenses, i think (not sure), must be obtained from where one resides... so that when the marriage ban is put up the locality will be informed.

once you have your marriage license, you can marry anywhere within the Philippine Territory.

JUST ONE ADVICE: Do not skip the marriage ban (10 days) for obtaining the license. You would get tons of grief for this later on.

Yeah I think that is the case. The marriage license request is posted publically for 10 days (As was in our case),,,

Then after that a licence was issued. There was no restriction on where the marriage could occur.

Not sure where you got the, "in the town or city where one of the parties is a resident"

The USEM website states: Philippine law prescribes a ten-day waiting period from the filing of the application to the issuance of the marriage license. The license is valid for 120 days and may be used anywhere in the Philippines.

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwha009.html

The ten-day waiting period is ten working days.

Naturalization

3/27/14 - N400 package delivered

4/3/14 - NOA1 receipt date

4/4/14 - check cashed

04/29/14 - biometrics date

07/01/14 - interview date

But if you're not a resident, there's a counseling/seminar requirement where both indenting parties MUST attend in order to get a license.

Visit the Local Civil Registrar in the location where the bride or groom living in the Philippines.

Apply for the marriage license at the Local Civil Registrar. The resident of the Philippines will need to bring the affidavit obtained by the U.S. resident, documentation proving any previous marriages were terminated, the birth certificate or proof of residency for the resident of the Philippines and consent from the parents if either the bride or groom is under 18 years of age.

As other posters says, observe the 10-days waiting period and then return to the Local Civil Registrar to obtain your marriage license.

Take your marriage license to a judge, priest or other authorized party within 120 days of issuance. The license can be use anywhere in the Philippines, not only in the township where it was authorized.

Me and hubby never attended the seminar though...Goodluck!

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.
