Marylin, thanks for the link. I tried it before yesterday but did not work. Now it downloaded and I can watch videos again.

Charles, I do not know anything about that, but internet explorer does not even open now. I'm using Mozilla. Any way to fix internet explorer? I like it better. I think i have too much stuff on my computer therefore the trouble.

IE doesn't open? You may have some sort of malware/virus on your system.

Boot in safe mode and run checks.

Is your A/V up to date?

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

There's probably something wrong with it.

Did you install Mozilla Firefox? It takes over your computer and adds an "Internet Explorer (without add-ons) link. If so, find the IE link under "all programs". If you didn't I would first try to reset IE. Go to the Tools menu---->Internet Options--->Advanced tab------>click the reset button at the bottom.

I hope this helps. :)

Sometimes your OS can get unstable with installed programs (specifically games). Windows photo gallery stopped working for me a few months back - double clicking on a photo would bring up an empty window. Same thing with Windows Media Center, would crash to desktop whenever I tried to play a DVD.

Ended up having to reinstall Windows for other reasons - but that seemed to fix it.

If internet explorer isn't working - a system file related to it has gotten erased or misplaced. You can try looking at the internet options, but probably the easiest thing you can do would be to uninstall internet explorer, though if your OS is running slow - it might be worth your while to do a reinstall of Windows.

PCs slow down over time as more and more stuff gets added (and removed) from the HDD and as updates get installed.

Everybody, AND that includes, EVERYBODY, has computer problems.

My youngest son's friend started a PC repair center and really wanted my son to join him, he is good at stuff like this, but prefers to teach Japanese kids, English in Japan instead. His friend has expanded into something like twenty cities with over 200 working for him.

I am also pretty good at repairing computer problems, but have to have the computer in front of me, I can spend hours with my friends and relatives on the phone and get nowhere, but seem to know what the problem is after spending a few minutes with the computer in front of me. One key requirement is having a working computer to get on the net because there are thousands of solutions. You can't do that with a computer that you can't even boot up.

My own computer crashed a couple of weeks ago when I permitted MS to upgrade IE on the fly, no problem for me, none of my data is on the root drive, have complete backup's of my root drive that reformatted and reloaded a good backup. Was back in business after twenty minutes, but didn't sit there like any idiot watching it reload, have other things to do.

Just worked on my daughters computer, everything on her root drive, pulled that on a good computer, recovered all of her data and reloaded Windows, what a mess her OS was, but made a partition to make the job easier the next time, if I can get her to put your data into that partition.

Some have been lucky when just the electronics go bad in an HD, find a drive like it and replace the PCB, but if the driver motor goes out, and why not, it's a cheap piece of ####### made in China, they are screwed. I would need a ton of special jigs to remove the glass disks and install them in a working drive to retrieve the data.

If you have faith in these pieces of ####### for saving your data forever, it's time to get a new religion. All of those programs can be reloaded, the data is the most important thing, can preach that until I am blue in the face and get nowhere, but that is their problem, not mine.

With most desktops, can add a couple of extra HD's, I do that, with notebooks, did get my wife one with two drives built in, but also have a USB external drive so have her computer completely backed up so I don't have to go through that forever windows setup again with a zillion reboots. Plus removing all that free 90 day ####### they are putting on.

PC use to stand for personal computer, today with XP and especially Vista, stands for public computer with tons of extra directories you have to plow through when you encounter a problem, I hate that. Some of the sloppiest people I know are computer programmers, not only sloppy in their appearance and an unfindable desktop, but also how they write code, and that is the ####### we have to live it. Hell, if they make an error, can always give you an upgrade.

I'm ditching Vista as soon as Windows 7 becomes officially available in October.

Nothing but glitches and problems - things not booting up properly on startup, issues with Windows Update etc. etc. etc.

It was an utter ####### to get the Service Pack 1 upgrade as it requires parts of the PC hardware to be switched off before the update will appear. Even if you download a standalone installer it still won't install - took 6hrs on the phone with an MS tech to get it working.

Historically it has taken MS at least three years to work out all the bugs in a new OS, and this goes way back to Windows 3.0, that was so screwed up, took 3.1 to cure those problems. Vista is the same, they finally got Win98SP corrected, but obsoleted it. So what makes you think Windows7 will be any different?

If you really know MS-DOS, Gates stole about 99% of it, he wrote less than 1% of it, should have kept on stealing other peoples good programs. Would have saved us a bunch of problems.

Before I upgraded to SP1 on my wife's computer, also had to, first I collected all that data those dang programs put on the root drive and saved that in an external drive, then backed up her root drive on an external drive. Then found a site where I could download the complete program rather than upgrading on the fly. It was because I went through all that trouble, I didn't have problems with SP1.

Damn, I hate that registry, grows faster than a willow tree in a hot Florida swamp, every e-mail, every program you think you have removed, etc., leaves a ton of ####### in that registry even though those e-mails and programs are long gone. Haven't found a program yet that removes all of it, so use Registrar Registry Manager to get rid of that #######, but takes a long time and you have to be awake while doing it.

Just going from the advance reviews - Windows 7 has had a long open beta and by most accounts I've read MS has finally done it right.

Could just be spin, of course - but if Win 7 uses fewer system resources as is claimed, it will run a lot faster than Vista on my machine.
