Are we being too optimistic?

Not optimistic... unrealistic.

I mean it could happen, sure anything can happen. But I wouldn't expect too much out of this process... especially a short time line. It's a little easier of a let down if it doesn't happen. :P

Well, we're already at the NVC stage. I plan to get everything ready this weekend to send to them once our case number is established. Just hoping our luck with the I130 will continue.

Hey... be optimistic, it never killed anyone, did it?

I think you should, why not?

Who knows maybe!

Doubtful though, generally interviews are scheduled about 3 months after you complete NVC. So even if you finish NVC in early August - it would be pushing it - but November wouldn't be unrealistic :)

Now, if we wanted to, could we go south and drive across the US to Montreal?

Yeah you definitely could. You just couldn't drive back that way since you don't have your passport (they keep it). Unless they gave it back to you the next day and since you are CR1 you have multiple entries.

Good luck.

That's good to hear. Our hopes would be that our interview is after September (some family stuff that month), so that we can just take all of our ####### with us to Montreal, have the interview, then move to Florida.

kep in mind in 99% of times you dont get the visa that day or next anymore---they mail it to you!! And of course the visa is in ur Cdn passport!! One can always ask to pick it up, and a few have been successful, but you would not know until you were at the interview! AND they are NOT always prompt at mailing the passport/visa out!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
