Ok as you might be able to guess from my topic I Am one of those people that has now gone past the alloted 120-180 days it is supposed to take to process and issue an interview date for the AOS.

My son and I sent in our AOS and have a receipt date of Dec 6th 2005. I also sent in for my EAD which I received in March of 2006.

On the 28th June 2006 I called the USCIS just to make sure they had received our change of address (AR-11) and to ask what was going on with our case. The young lady was very nice , polite and helpful. Shr took our change of address again and said she would forward it , update files, for us just to make sure they had got it. Before I had a chance to ask her about the time it was taking she was looking at our case and SHE TOLD ME that we had gone past the alloted time. She then told me that our case had not been touched so it didnt look as if an interview date had been sent to the wrong address but she told me that she was going to include a letter, in with our change of address, to inform them that we had been waiting too long and to try and make them move a bit :bonk::lol: . I realy hope that she does and that things start to move .

How many more of us seem to have been forgotten and put to the bottom of the pile.

What is your receipt date . What area do you live in , I'm thinking this is more of a problem here in the South .

Did you write a letter to your old local office telling them about your change of address???

If not then maybe you should make an infopass appointment at your new local office to check what is going on with your case and check they have your new address...

The 1-800 number is not good at passing on the information to the correct place... much better to go yourself to the local office and talk to an immigration officer as the 1-800 are not immigration staff they just answer the phone and can only see the same information that you can on the website...

Ange,

Are you referring to the meaningless time estimate that the USCIS no longer puts on the Receipt Notices and On-Line status reports?

The actual time to process an I-485 application is going to vary widely depending on the backlog at the DO or SO where the interview will be held, or if the application is sent to the CSC for decision without an interview.

You should probably follow up in person if your filing date is significantly before the posted processing date for your District Office (timelines available at uscis.gov). If you have been scheduled for an initerview that you don't know about, you could find your AOS cancelled.

How to change your mailing address:

Again, the AR-11 does NOT change your mailing address.

You are required to file AR-11, and your Sponsor is required to file I-865. Relevant laws are cited in the links below.

To successfully change address, from the Dept of Overkill:

-file AR-11 as required by law. This does not change your *mailing* address, but it informs USCIS where you might have been, at one time. Just do it, it's the law

http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/address.htm

How Do I Report a Change of Address to the USCIS?

AR-11 does not generally generate a NOA receipt. Send by trackable mail.

-Copy of AR-11 to any LOCAL or district office where you might have a file. Include a letter saying: change my mailing address

-copy of AR-11 to any Service Center where you might have a file. Include a letter saying: change my mailing address

-Phone call to 1-800 MisInformation line with the request: please change my mailing address

-file I-865 for USC Sponsor as required by law. You *may* get a NOA for this one and it *might* change the Sponsor's mailing address. Or not.

-file Change of Address and Mail Forwarding with the USPS. Your USCIS mail *might* get forwarded to your new addy. Or returned to USCIS, you never know. Unfortunate side effect: the PO sells your new address to bulk mailers and you are now back on every junk mailing list under the sun.

http://www.obviously.com/junkmail/

Do-it-yourself: Stop junk mail, email and phone calls

30 days later

-Follow up phone call to 1-800 to see if address change is captured.

-Cross fingers and keep an eye on processing times and when you expect to be contacted. Don't let it go for ages and then say 'dude, where's my case?'.©

When our case was 180 past. We made an INFOPASS appointment. When our case was 222 days past due I contacted the 2 senators and the congressman for our state. I called them every Monday and only one was helpful. But they got us our interview date. Turns out it had gotten stuck on the bottom of somebody's desk and my senator was very helpful. But only 1 of 3 ended up being helpful. My advice. Contact them all and follow up with them at least once per week by phone. Best wishes!

Thanks for all your help . So far my son and I have done the AR-11 . My hubby has done the sponsor change of address I-865 and I have called the 1-800 number and done the change of address with them . I have just printed out a letter to our DO and will deliver that over this weekend . I hope I have all my bases covered now , suppose all I can do is sit and wait and keep calling them to double check.

My receipt date is only 6 April and I am fed up enough that my case has not even been touched. I feel very sorry for those of you who have been waiting over 6 months - let's hope they get their a-holes in gear soon. I so want this to all be over. Luckily my EAD arrived on the 90 day mark so I have been working for 4 days now :-) YAY!!!
