RAHWAY — An Elizabeth man was arrested Wednesday after showing up at a house he had allegedly burglarized two weeks earlier and apologizing to the homeowner, police said.

Craig Fletcher, 35, was charged with the June 29 break-in on the 200 block of Egolf Drive, along with a burglary on Inman Avenue the day before his arrest, police said in a news release.

Police say the Egolf Drive resident came home at 4:15 p.m. Monday, June 29, to find someone leaving his back yard carrying his backpack. The victim chased the suspect, who then threw the bag at him and got away.

The backpack contained three laptops and an Xbox game console that was taken from the victim's home, Rahway police Sgt. Dominick Sforza said in the release.

Police were called back to the home at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday. The victim told police the suspect had just rung his doorbell. When the resident answered, the man appeared startled and then apologized for committing the prior burglary at his house, the victim told police.

Fletcher then fled on foot and was arrested shortly thereafter.

He was also charged with burglarizing a home on the 600 block of Inman Avenue between 8 and 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, police said. That resident returned home to find a camera and some $200 in cash and coins missing.

Fletcher was charged with two counts of burglary and theft. He was taken to the Union County Jail in lieu of $60,000 bail.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

I like the words whale wad.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
