Why does a Federal program affect the income tax in a specific state?

The NY Post is taking existing tax rates in NYC and adding on the new burden from a new federal program.

Oh State Tax plus Federal tax. Well heck, that's probably going to be at least close to true in Cali too then. Specially in L.A where sales tax is now 10%.

And don't forget the New York City tax. NY State + City taxes are already almost as high as Federal taxes for many people.

NYC is expensive, but where else do you get to live in Manhattan? If you can afford it, there's no better place to be!

All i know is some of these folks have been living in NYC for years on g-4 visas, makin' a pretty penny, and don't pay any taxes...

If they have a problem outside of work, they should have to call the UN Dept of Peacekeeping instead of the NYPD or the NYFD. That's all i'm sayin...
