September 2006 to March 2008, 11 visits, 5 in Canada, 6 in NJ

Officially Engaged December 24th, 2007!!!

Moved to the U.S. to be with my baby on July 19th, 2008 on a K1 visa!!!!

***10 year green card in hand as of 2/2/2012, loving and living life***

Hmmm maybe we should move back to Canada! lol smile.png

Hi,

Astro-By all means, go back to Canada to visit as much as you want after you have your green card! Just remember to bring your green card and other travel documents, such as a passport, when you travel.

Heck, I've been back to Canada 10-20 times since I've got my 2yr green card and 1 time since I've got my 10yr green card and I will still go to Canada after I get citizenship! I go so many times, as I'm close to the border (about 1-2 hours away by land) and generally like visiting back to Canada.

Lol..nah, the border patrol won't be bugging you about crossing the border so many times....So cross as many times as you want with your green card! Lol...After all, you did pay (such a high price too) for it and waited so long for it, so why not use it for travel purposes....."Use it or waste it", I say!

Though do have all your documentation ready when you travel.

As well, be careful not to stay in Canada (or any other country) for more than 6 months/180 days, as that could have an effect on your permanent residency status here in the USA.

When I have GC, can I go back and forward to Canada (I mean 1 or 2 times a year)? Will the border patrol bug me?

It will impact the naturalization process, but not the permanent residency. Unless, of course, you are out of the US beyond one year without a re-entry permit.
