We had our interview today, and my husband passed. The officer told us that they would mail him his passport in 2 weeks. I come home, and around 2:30 p.m. I received a phone call asking for my husband. I told him that he's not home, and if he wants to leave a message. He asked if I was his wife, and I said yes. Then he asked if we could email them a copy of my husbands CV. He said that they want to see where he worked and studied. Isn't that weird? Why would they ask for that? What are they checking out? He put his work history on the G-325A form, isn't that enough? Do you think that they suspect something isn't right with his work history? I mean, what if he got the dates wrong on his CV or something. What if he put that he started working in Feb, instead of Jan, or something like that? I'm not saying he did, I just can't get my mind around it, and now I'm really worried. We were so happy today that everything went smoothly and now this.

We just got an email back saying "Thank you for the C.V. It will be added to your file. As soon as the processing is completed we will advise you."

What is that supposed to mean, I assumed that all the processing was finished, and that all they needed to do was print out the visa in his passport.

Weird indeed, maybe they just wanted to make sure its a serious relationship and you are still with him, so they used the CV excuse to call and see if you were there.

Take care,

I don't know, this is too crazy!! Right after I sent them the CV, and finished writing this thread, they called AGAIN, about 15 min ago. Asking me to email them the names of his siblings and the countries he has visited in the last 10 years. I'm guessing that the officer didn't do a good job at questioning us, and perhaps didn't ask for enough papers. So now, whoever is going over all the stuff, is seeing that they maybe need more info, than what's in the file.

Maybe they just thought he had left off some of his work history. There is a form in the DCF instructions that the beneficiary has to fill out that asks for the complete work and education history. There weren't enough lines for all of my husband's jobs so I attached his CV to it. I wouldn't worry about it. It is an easy question form to miss if you don't bother to download the instructions. I don't know where you might find the DCF instructions for the embassy you filed at but if you click on this link and scroll down to pg. 15-16, you will see the Contact Information sheet my husband had to fill out in addition to what he wrote on all the other forms. I almost missed it myself. Maybe you missed it and they just wanted his CV to make sure he included everything on the other forms.

My first thought was.....if you are planning to begin your PhD studies soon after returning, who is going to provide financial support if no work is lined up yet?

I never had to fill out anything asking about his siblings, just his parents. But countries traveled to is asked about on that Contact Information Sheet that you might have missed. I don't know why they hide it in the separate DCF instructions that most people don't bother to download or read. I really wouldn't worry. They always want as much information as possible so I'll be sending them a college textbook's worth.

There is a Canadian who posts here (whose username I can't remember at the moment) who had a similar thing happen - except at the interview they actually asked for the Husband's CV.

It did take them a month or more to actually get the visa - I believe the Husband was a scientist of some kind.

What kind of work did/does your Husband do?

I'm not sure about the particulars in your case, just wanted to share with you that we had to submit a form with all of the names & birthdates of all siblings (living and deceased!) and whether they had any kind of visa to the US. We had to download that from the Consulate's website and I assumed it was something specific to our Consulate--but perhaps others have to submit the same thing.

We did not submit a CV but carried one with us after I'd read that some other VJers were asked at the interview to hand over a copy.

Best of luck to you.

Well, I suppose they are just doing standard procedure. I'm quite sure that I didn't miss anything, I'm very meticulous and read package 3 and 4 about 1 million times before I touched them. They never asked for contact information, and never included it in the checklist that they sent me. I would have filled it out easily. The embassy package link that you posted is soooo formal and organized and nicely typed out Duenorglorin, nothing at all like the one I received. Do you know that the package 4 they sent, seemed like it had been written 20 years ago. It was a photocopy of instructions and the checklist, and the photocopy quality was so bad. Some things were crossed out with pen and re-written, a real mess. lol.

I don't think they had an issue about financial support since my dad and mom are the co-sponsors.

Well, I guess we'll just wait and see what happens. Hopefully they don't keep calling me. Twice a day is enough.

I actually looked at the American embassy's website for Israel and I couldn't find any forms or instructions to link to from it. The site seemed badly organized so I just gave up and linked to the contact sheet for mine.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much since it's just basic info. they're asking for.

You're right, they are very badly organized. Israel is kind of like that, everything here is a bit crazy. :)

They can ask for this kind of information from people they feel can pose threat to national security or something. I know of a few cases where they asked for the CVs when the beneficiaries mentioned they were scientists, researchers etc. What does your husband do? This might be related to that.

Really? Wow, I didn't know that. Well he is an RF Engineer in the wireless industry, and he did work once as an engineer for the Israeli military, in addition to being in a submariner in the navy. So maybe that's why. I thought that the more educated the person was, the better it was. Since at least they are bringing educated people in the country, not a bum. I'm going to start my phD in Biology too, but I don't think their issue is with me.
