The thread is about prison populations and the contribution drugs and drug addiction have to that Danno.

Was that a Public service announcement ... you made there?

However, we all know what the tread is about so what was the point?

... or are you suggesting I was "off-point"? :)

AS best I can recall , I made two points,

one.... if it is alarming that 1 in a 100 people are locked up in the population as a whole how alarming (and why no mention in the story) about Blacks who experience a lock-up rate many times that...

in certain age brackets 1 in 4!?

Two, a lot of people just enjoy doing drugs... treatment programs are not only a huge waste of tax money but also ineffective.

Probably because the article is talking in general terms - 1 in every hundred Americans in jail, and how the costs have spiralled.

It doesn't go into the sociology of criminality much at all...
