If it is a pre-paid plan. Possibly if they have an agreement with a US Carrier. Would most likely be cheaper to get a sim card from T-Mobile for about $10

and then do pre-paid card $100... Will cost you 10 cents per minute... And the minutes are good for a year.

Regards,

if you want you can get an OFW sim from globe i think thats better for us. i had one before but im not sure if we can use it to call them... though for regular sim pls activate it in pinas 24 hrs before your flight para sigurado na you can receive and text your family or SO during layover. and i suggest use globe (hehe medyo loyal ako at sa pag kakarinig ko mas ok daw ang globe)

I got a Smart SIM on ebay. Works fine for me for over a year now, and I just activate/deactivate roaming as I travel in and out of the Philippines.

I have my smart sim roaming.. (my old smart cellphone number)..I roam it on before we board on the plane.I still had like 150pesos load that time and until now it works.I still receive txt from my family and friends..I have 1 cellphone for my smart roaming and 1 cellphone with my US number from T-mobile plan...then I'm texting them via chikka and now I downloaded the Smart uzzap messenger on my pc,it's good because I can txt them for unlimited with no charge if they have smart uzzap on their cellphone. If they dont have one,I can still txt them,I can send 10 texts per day and they can reply for 1 (piso) only.

If you are already in the US and need to activate your Globe SIM, you can call their customer service line (Long Distance Charges may apply) and tell them your SIM/phone number then they can activate the roaming for you. This can be done on any Globe SIM card.

PM me for any AP or AR relating to the NBI

Hi, I had my roaming sim here in US. I bring my old cell phone in my last travel from the Philippines last June. I activated my Smart roaming sim card an hour before we boarded . When I arrived here in U.S-MI last (June 18). I don`t know why it is not working. I don`t even got any signal from my phone, my roaming sim has 300 load last June. Now, I can`t even open it because it is already drained .I am quite nervous to use my charger here because it is my charger in the phil. and my husband said my charger can`t be use here. All my friends cell phone number was stored in that sim and can`t even open it so now I lost contact from them. I am quite frustrated about it.I don`t know maybe the model of my handset is not applicable for roaming sim. I am hoping I can still use that phone here and got my friends number in my sim but I guess can`t do it.

So, check also your phone and place here in U.S. if it is reachable by that roaming sim. I hope you can activate your roaming when you get here in U.S. Thanks and God bless!

if you check at the back of your charger, it will say the input 100V-240 ( the voltage that you're allowed to use for the that charger). check it if say Input 100-200V coz charger will tell you. and if it does say that, then yes you can use it based on my experience... all my charger that i bought in the US from my cellphone, laptop, cameras, ipod, i can also use them in the philippines (but some charger wont allow you to do that unless you have a converter or something). just read at the back of your charger and see the volt strength. if its only 240V then i guess you cant use it here coz in the US we're only using 100V (i think)

hi,

its nice to have globe sim because once you activate it then enroll it to zero maintaining balance then you dont need to keep on buying load for it every month...i have globe roaming and my family can text me anytime they want for only one peso...then i have unlimited international texting on my us number phone so i can just reply and text them anytime i want...so talagang textmates ko pa rin family and friends ko. for me mas maganda ang globe...hehehhehe

You have to allow more than 1 hour before leaving to activate roaming. You may want to try activating from the Smart website. Not sure if that will work now that you are already out of country and if you are now below 100P load. As long as your charger says 100-240V and 50/60Hz, you can use it in the US.

Hi, can I ask a question? I had my globe roaming sim activated only 13 hours prior to leaving the Philippines to Taipei. It was fine, I can still txt my family when we landed but when I got into California, the signal was lost. My relative back in the Philippines said she contacted the nearest globe center and had my account activated. My sim has 100+ peso load btw but still, no signal here in Lakewood, CA... :(

my wife sent me a smart roaming sim and I am in kuwait. With smart you can activate and deactivate roaming online if you set up your account before you leave (you have to receive a txt to set up the online). When i first got the SIM it didnt work...I had to give my wife the s/n of the sim that is on the big card. They activated it in the philippines and it works fine now. I dont know if it will work in Alaska when I get back, but I will report back when I get back to the US.

Im using Smart Prepaid sim. It works fine.No maintaining balance or whatsoever. Globe has maintaining balance and if you go below the maintaining balance its automatic youre roaming will be deactivated, and the hassle of calling their customer service for days you wouldnt like. Globe is a great company though.Globe works really good IF you are in the Philippines.Ive been a globe user since forever But their roaming service is not realiable.

Plus with smart you can activate or deactivate anytime with their online facility. You just have to login. Hassle free.
