Hi Peeps !

I just found out US consulate in Frankfurt/Germany uses an outside company to process their consular fees. I want to cover my fiance's K-1visa and medical exam costs but wonder if this would be an issue. Did anyone of you do this for your Teutonic Knight/Princess before? If yes, how did you do it and how did it work out during the interview? Did they wonder "why" etc.?

2nd question: On Visa Deposit Slip application form they ask for a birthday date. Is it supposed to be done the American way ( month-day- year)or the European way (day-month-year)?.

Any feedback would be appreciated! :help:

Couldn't you simply wire the funds via a place like MoneyGram or Western Union? That is a fairly easy process and can be sent via the internet in minutes...... Just one way to do it

I had to pay cash for the medical.

I'll be already in Germany for his medical so this is not a problem. My concern is the visa fee. The US embassy in Frankfurt wants all applicants to use Roskos & Meier for payment for tracking purposes. We tried to call R & M in Berlin but the number on their web is not working and the "for pay" US consulate number is useless and a total racket.

if i remember correctly i had to pay my medical fee in cash, that was in frankfurt. as far as the visa fee goes, why is it that big of a deal if your fiancee is going to use her bank account to pay roskos and meier and you just pay her back or take her out for dinner somewhere nice!

Well...I wouldn't be posting this question if he could pay from his account :) For totally unrelatad reasons my fiance is unable to use his bank account right now and it seems that there's no other way to pay the consulate (post office, or any equivalent of the western union etc.) but to wire the money through R & M. Given the circumstances, I want to pay the visa fee right away but, let's say, I wire the money to R&M and it turns out that for whatever reason they don't allow US citizens to do it, then this fee won't be returned. It says on the embassy website that in case you make duplicate fees or make a mistake it's your loss. Nice! So, I was hoping there maybe someone who was in a similar, inconvenient situation. Sigh!

I highly doubt there would be an issue with who pays the visa fee as long as it is paid before the interview. For confirmation, however, you could try to send an e-mail to the consulate and ask them the question directly.

You are most likely 99.9 % right. That's the answer I got from the Visa Dept. of the US Dept. Of State. I also e-mailed the consulate (no answer yet). So I did it!

I'm being extra paranoid given all sorts of changes that took place at the US Consulate in FRA. First they adjusted the fee amount to 99.54 Euro from 107 and change.

Next thing: Packet 3. My fiance just received a single page letter saying that the petition was approved and now he can go on the website and follow the instructions there. No forms, no writen instructions, no checklist. When I called the Dept. of State to inquire about this unusual "packet", the first guy I talked to told me the rest will be coming separately soon and if not I should e-mail the consulate and then hang up on me. I almost wanted to tell him that he was soo sweet I'd marry HIM instead but got cut off. I called back and this time a very helpful woman explained to me that some consulates often do it like that since all the info and forms are on their websites so we should just go ahead with the paperwork.
