police certificate

my husband and I are living in Gibraltar,

which is a UK overseas territory. I am a US

citizen, he is british. we married Feb. 13th 2009.

my husband traveled a lot before we met and is unsure where he needs

to get a police certificate (report) because some places he only lived

for a few months at most. most under 6 months. he has no record,

but it might be hard to get a police record from costa rica and romania (where he only stayed 4 months) ten years ago. Some other places

he only lived there for 5 months, but never registered. He is 33 now. Is it nessisarry

for us to obtain a police record for places less than a year or six

months?? we are trying to get our ducks in a row for the official dcf we will file. I think it should be the I-130 for the cr1. I hope that is right. What is the timeline for that?? we have to travel to Madrid for everthing so travel will be expensive. How many times will we have to go to the US embass?? he has a tourist visa already because we had our honeymoon in Orlando and I know we didn't need to get a tourist visa, but my husband wanted to make sure he could get in to the US without any complications. He has been there before, but he was a single male before and he thought he was asked to many questioned and wanted to cover all basis.

Trying to speed up the process and get everything ready.

thanks for any info...

Filed: Timeline

If he was in either place for less than six months, he would not need a police certificate.

Now, question is: are you sure you can file DCF in Madrid without being a Spanish resident? Usually DCF is allowed for USCitizens who reside legally in the consular district (in Madrid';s case: Spain of course). Better get that checked out. Perhaps you could file through London instead?

Thanks Len,

I have emailed the London US Embassy to ask if we can file DCF with them, but so far have had no reply.
