You can do a walk in? We'd love to do that. Is it as simple as just showing up and hoping they take you or calling ahead to see if you can come in earlier?

I wish we could go early... the biometrics office is kinda far from our place and with my work schedule (I work for the gov't) and only having 1 car... we can only go on the date of appointment cause I need to request time off from work. I can't afford to go early and have them deny us and then have to go back on the actual day! :)

Yeah, I hear ya. The biometrics he has to go to is about an hour and a half away. It would be a bummer to go and get turned away. But he is driving down to LA for school next Wednesday and coming back Thursday afternoon and the city the biometrics place is in is on that way home so he'll stop by and see if he can go early. Otherwise he'll go on the appointment day. I just can't believe how fast it's all going so far.

Here is another July filer with one question.

After mailing and reviewing copies of the forms that we have sent, I found a mistake in the question 15 of I-130.

I put there information on petitioner's place of work and date that employment has started.

Later after doing more internet research, I discovered that it was a wrong answer. Because question 15 of the form I-130 was asking about the alien beneficiary's place of work (if any), not of the petitioner.

Do you think it was a critical mistake?

Can a processing officer at USCIS figure out that mistake by comparing I-130 with G-325A forms?

Is there anything we can do at this stage or should we wait until interview?

Thanks.

My lawyer told me that they don't care too much about the answers on forms, as long as you send them all in. everything is determined during the interview.

Thanks for you reply!

I hope so. I just can't believe that I missed nuance of the question 15 of I-130.

Yes, we did send all the forms along with supporting docs and evidence as per instructions given in the forms.

I hope we will get receipts for all three forms within 10-15 days.

I wonder what date is considered for the forms as filing date?

Is it the day of delivery to USCIS Lockbox in Chicago or any other day, such as the day when USCIS processing officer picks the package of documents up and generates receipts for those forms?

I believe it is the day of the postmark. We sent ours in on the 90th day of my husband's VWP and as far as I know that counts as "on time" even though they didn't receive it till July 1st.

If they read that question and are like "what?" I'm sure they will either ask you about it or say something at the interview.

USCIS cashed both checks today.

Will need to go to the bank to obtain copies of the checks which may or may not have assigned case number on the back.

Actually there should be 13 characters on the back of the check. For example, I can see MSC followed by 10 digits on the back of each check. I went to USCIS website but was not able to retrieve case number by using MSC and 10 digits. I guess we will have to wait for NOA.

Case Status Search

"To view the status of a case, please enter the corresponding application receipt number. The 13-character application receipt number can be found on application notices you have received from the USCIS. It begins with three letters such as (EAC, WAC, LIN, or SRC). Dashes ("-") should be omitted when entering a receipt number. However, all other characters, including asterisks ("*"), can be included if listed on your notice as part of the receipt number."

Our MSC numbers did not pull up online or using the toll-free number either. Others on this site said that sometimes you will never see your case online and to wait for the snail mail may be your best bet. Some said they got notices in the mail that didn't show online until weeks later. I guess it's just behind for some cases.

Ryan was able to get his biometrics done early. We were assigned to the USCIS in Goleta, CA and the appointment was for July 28 but he went today (on his way home from Los Angeles since Goleta is still 90 miles away but on the way back from his school in Los Angeles) and they took him and he was in and out in a matter of minutes. Yay! So we were able to save a few days!
