What's your point, exactly? There should not be foreign language anything because you find it annoying? :P

http://pinoychannel.tv/

watch a little of that. it'll make you :girlwerewolf2xn: english-tagalog-english-visaya-tagalog-english..all in 5-10 minutes during the same show...it is annoying.

Yeah, they say just enough in English for you to tune in a little then bam, back to Tagolog. I feel so left out... and annoyed!

i just mute it & watch the sexbomb girls & wowowee dancers w/ my wife.....we both win that way.

My question isn't about acceptance, it is about whether or not it gets on anyone's nerves.

Yes, but people yacking in general can get on my nerves. I think it's part of getting older...we're evolving into grumpy old men.

I don't watch t.v in general, but I do watch Hindi movies time to time, also Bengali songs and I watch live broad casted Hindi and English news everyday on my laptop.

My husband doesn't have much say about what I watch, he actually enjoys Hindi songs. A lot of times he watches the news with me, English one though and the other day when I was watching a Hindi movie, he sat with me and watched, I was being a translator. I think I would be offended if he would say my language is dog barking.

You are married to someone of a different culture, so doesn't accepting their language, culture comes within the territory? Do you get out of the house when your wife talks with her relatives on phone?

I would suggest not only accepting there language but also learning your SO's language.

I can't learn it - really. I wish I could. A few years ago, I tried super hard to learn Spanish, but failed. I remembered words, but I couldn't form a sentence to save my life and I couldn't understand native speakers unless they spoke in individual key words really slow.

I think I could learn Spanish if I lived in say Costa Rica where most of the time, I'd have to speak it. Little by little, I think I could learn it. But, the trouble with Tagalog is that those who know it, usually also know English so reverting to what each of us know for convenience usually prevails.

I have troubles too, but I found these audio lessons that really have been working for me, Pimsluers. It walks you through in a very effective way. I would highly suggest it if you havent tried it yet and also get a book that helps you with the grammar so that it will stick.

How do you stand it when you can't understand what they are saying? To me, it is like a dog barking.... would get on my nerves.

I said "would" because we don't have the channel (filipino) and we don't watch any TV at all except for netflix movies, but my wife sometimes listens to stuff on the web. I gave her a headset so I wouldn't have the hear the yack, yack, yack... bark, bark, bark!

you obviously haven't been married long enough. after 2-3 years, your ears can automatically power down when her voice is heard.

It's akin to enduring a football or baseball game with my husband and I don't understand what the excitement or expletives !@#$%^&* are all about.

We compromise by watching animal planet together.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Anyway.... I was just wondering.

Just went to youtube and tuned into some Tagalog, wow, still like a dog barking to me. Afterwards, I tuned into some Vietnamese and my wife said it sounds like one of those little dogs and I agree much more like a little dog than a big dog. I'm thinking Tagalog is more of a medium sized dog.... pitbull perhaps. Anyway, I couldn't resist some youtube Chinese so my wife left, she been gone for 2 days so far.

Life..... Nobody gets out alive.

Its gonna take a lot longer than that for me. 4 years in the US together and I still need a couple shots of Jack to get me through the long phone calls with MIL.
