Hi everyone,

I'm getting a divorce with my wife, caught her cheating on me in my absence. I've gone through most of the process in getting a CR-1 and unfortunately I've already paid all the bills, however I have yet to turn in my I-864 and the DS-230 (I've been holding off, as I felt something was wrong in my relationship). My question is do I need to do something officially to declare a divorce with the immigration people here? Or by not turning in those last two documents and there not being a interview scheduled automatically end the visa journey??

Please all help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

While ignoring the next steps will eventually cause the file to be closed (no interview will be scheduled until the application is complete), best if you submit a letter indicating that you no longer are pursuing

Sorry for the bad news. Insha Allah everything works out in the end for you.

As far as the Immigration/NVC processing matter. If you are certain you are getting a divorce from you wife, then to best serve your interest ( filing again in the future for another ) we must send the NVC a withdrawal letter. Just stating that you no longer wish to proceed with this case that you and your wife will be divorcing. You are aware that you will not be able to get back any of your funds ( sad part ).

To double assure yourself, send the IMM a letter also as CC ( send to Vermont ).

Hope all works good for you.

Thanks for the responses. I have another question is getting a divorce in Syria enough (as that is where we got married and are registered as a married couple) or do I have to file for somekind of divorce here in the states, although she has never been here and I've ended this relationship before the visa process finishes?
