Hey, VJ friends!

I need some advice from you. I am putting together docs for AOS. I have acquired a SSN already before we got married. I'd like to send my AOS package by the end of next week, cause my visa expires on 31 July. I am wondering though about SSN. I am mailing the form for the name change today. I don't think I'll have the SSN with the new name before I plan to send the AOS package. Do you think that might be a problem?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Marina

No problem. It is best to wait on the SSN namechange until after you have your Green Card or EAD (it is no big deal and no rush). Just list your SSN on the I-485 (or don't, it isn't required for the AOS)

Oh thank you so much for the advice.

you might find out (like i did when i went to change my name to my married name on SSN) that i couldnt do it until i got my EAD because my visa was going to expire within 14 days and they wouldnt do it for that reason. so im going to have to wait until i get my EAD but its no big deal yet.
