Hi all :)

I will be flying to the US in November... I will be flying Malaysian Airlines in the first leg of journey and then switch to another airline. I have 3 choices:

1. Virgin Atlantic (stop at Heathrow)

2. Lufthansa (stop at Frankfurt)

3. Northwestern (stop at Amsterdam)

Have anyone of you flew these airlines before? Any opinions on which one should I take? :)

Thank you!

I hated hated hated the one time I flew NWA from Amsterdam...They sucked. REALLY. I mean you get treated like poop no matter who you fly, but compared to every other airline, they are by far the worst (IMO).

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Why would anyone want to connect via heathrow?

You will pay more for the crazy UK tax and also have to navigate one of the worst international airports in the world.

Amsterdam is probably the easiest of the 3 airports. It is only slightly ahead of Frankfurt.

Transatlantic carriers are pretty much the same unless you are flying anything other than coach. They all suck

Avoid US-based airlines when you can fly others. US airlines have the worst service and comfort (at least compared to most European and Australasian airlines I've flown).

Thanks everyone :) I'm actually going to fly Virgin Atlantic, made up my mind. I've been to Heathrow a few times, really cramped but at least I'm familiar with it so I'm sticking to that :) Come to think of it, should've tried Lufthansa but I read a few reviews online and they weren't as good as Virgin Atlantic! Heh... and it's okay if the seats are small as I have short legs! lol...

Thanks again :) Really appreciate it!

Virgin has a nice service in Premium Economy or if you feel like a treat try the Upper Class which is superb.

If you REALLY feel like a treat (and want to burn money) look at the BA first class service. The bed actually does feel almost like a proper bed and the privacy screen means you can just fall asleep and forget you are on a plane.
