Hi everybody!

Just wanted to share our experience. I am the immigrant. Our interview was yesterday at the Detroit office. We arrived a half an hour earlier, went through the security point, put our Interview Notice on a tray at one of the windows and sat down in the waiting area. There were a few couples there, all with attorneys... My name was called about 10 minutes later. Our IO was an older gentleman, he greeted us and led the way to his office. Once in the office, he looked at our Ids and my passport and swore us in. He spoke very quietly, so I had a hard time understanding him. He started out with confirming the information on my G-325A:

- My name and date of birth;

- My home country;

- My mom and dad`s names;

- My husband`s name and date of birth.

Then he asked the questions from I-485, to all of which I said "no" (criminal past, affiliation with the Communist Party etc...)

Then he asked my husband how we met (I`m on J-1) and how we decided to get married and who attended our wedding. Then he asked me about my husband`s family and whether I met them all and whether he met any of my family. Then he asked me about my husband`s hobbies, and him about mine. Then he asked if either of us worked and started talking about my father-in-law`s (he`s my co-sponsor) company and how a lot of people wouldn`t mind getting the same retirement as he does.

And that was basically it.. He didn`t ask for any pictures or cards. He only asked if we had any more documents we wished to add to our case, and we gave him my sister-in-law`s affidavit, at which he looked very briefly and simply attached it to the file. Then he said we were approved and explained why I`m getting a 2-year green card and how and when to apply for a permanent one. He wrote all the dates for us on a sheet of paper, so we knew when my card would expire and what forms to fill out and when. He didn`t take either my I-94 or my EAD card. He said I could keep the latter as it had an expiration date after which I should just destroy it.

He asked if we were planning on traveling abroad within the next month and offered stamping my passport in case we decided to go somewhere. We said we`d just wait for the actual green card and then go visit Canada as we had stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Detroit the night before, right on the riverfront, and had an awesome view of Canada from our room. He was very nice and explained what we`d need to do that and the best way to get there:)))

He shook our hands, we thank him and he led us out of his office. The interview took about 15 minutes.

I hope our experience will be helpful to those preparing for theirs.

Thanks to everybody for help and support!
