Hello All,

I am filing a K3 visa and have yet to receive a NOA2 for the i-129f or approval of my i-130 but I was little worried from reading all the threads about police reports.

This may sound like a dumb question but is it adviseable if my husband starts requesting police reports now from all the countries in which he has lived (Turkey, Cyprus and Ghana) even though we have not recieved any other approvals or NOA2 for the I-129f and i-130?

And if that answer is a yes, my next question is, is there an expiration date of the police reports (i.e. if my husband's interview is next year, and he gets the police report 2 months from now, do you think the embassy will say that the police reports he obtained are too old?)

Thank you in advance to all the members for helpful, encouraging responses...

Also, if anyone could also share their experiences and/or advice on obtaining police reports from Ghana, Cyprus or Turkey that would also be very helpful to me and my husband as well!

yes, you should start as soon as possible, some posters have said that they were quoted a two month wait to get their certificate. You may even find that some countries are not able to process certificates unless you are there in person. This was the case for one of mine.

As for validity, I believe it counts for the time that you are in the foreign country. For example, my certificate has a validity of 3 months. It covers me while I am IN that country. I wrote to the US consulate, ( with the same question as you) they told me the certificate is valid to them for 12 months as long as you did not return to the country within that 12 months, had you already left ( or got the certificate via mail) Or, if you are still in that country, you must leave before its validity expires. ( and they will still recognise it for the 12 month period)

You should also check with your consulate.

good luck.

Hi there. You can go to this site:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/reciprocity/index.htm

and find the country you want police reports from. It will tell you how to get them.

I had a quick look and believe you can get them from all three countries you mentioned.
