I am a GCholder & my husband is a USC working with the military.I wanted to petition my parents to come live here in the US with me..I believed that I need to be a USC before I can petition them but my friend said otherwise citing her sister who's a GCholder ( husband a USC) & was able to bring her parents in the US last year.According to her my USC husband can fill up the "B. Information about you" part and my name will be placed on the "Sponsor's household member". Is that possible? I don't wanna take the risk of losing $260 filing fee ;) .I still have a year to become USC. Can anybody clarify this to me? :help: Thanks!

I am not abosultely sure but I think you can. It might take a bit longer than normal because they need something like visas to become available. I tried looking on the Embassy's website but could not find anything...

Hope someone else will be able to help...

GC Holder can not petition for parents.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

You must first become a naturalized citizen - immediately after the ceremony you can file the I-130 for your parents. Parents are first preference and as such do not have to wait for a number to become available. You do not state where they live - if it is the UK it takes up to 12 months to process.

You can file for your naturalization 3 months before the 3rd anniversary of the permanent resident stamp in your passport.

Good luck.
