I´m from Sweden but I lived in Germany for 2 years (after the age of 16) and as I can understand it I have to get the poliserecords from there to.

My question is, do I have to translate the documents in to english or is it ok if I translate them into Swedish since that´s where the embassy where I have to go to the interview is?

From the instructions for the I-129F and the I-130:

Translations. Any document containing foreign language submitted to the Service shall be accompanied by a full English language translation which the translator has certified as complete and accurate, and by the translator's certification that he or she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English.

That´s what I read,that it´s ok if the documents are translated into swedish. I also read that " Also, many sources say it's not necessary to translate, if the documents are in the language of the embassy where the interview will take place".

Are these reliable sources or will I have to translate them into english?

I would translate them into English to be safe. You will save yourself time and energy later down the road if, at the embassy, they require them then it could delay your case. Best to translate them now to be sae.

Your I-130 is being sent to the Chicago lockbox. All documents sent there need to be translated into English.

Since the policerecords isn´t filed with the I-130 it doesnt really matter what the USCIS-requirements regarding translations are right?

And the papers sent at the NVC-stage should be able to be in the official language of where the embassy is right?

I´m having a hard time finding a certified german-english translator in Sweden...that´s why I would really like it if it was enough to translate it into swedish.

When submitted to NVC, they must be in English as they are sent to an office in New Hampshire, they are not sent to any place in Sweden until AFTER NVC.

From the travel.state.gov site

Translation Requirements

All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations.

They must be in English. Try going to a university to get a translation, many people here on VJ had success with professors doing the translations.

I just e-mailed with my embassy and they told me the same thing,the translations must be in english...

So now I gotta find a new translator...
