anyone switched service centers mid-process?

When I move to New York I'm guessing my case will not be done. I called USCIS today to ask whether my petition would come with me when I changed addresses, but his southern accent was SO thick (seriously where are these USCIS people?) that I could barely understand him and also he seemed exasperated with me demanding more of an answer than "it will be taken care of."

anybody done this? Found that it pushed them to the end of the line? Just curious...

I'm not sure, but I don't think moving means your case goes to the center that services NY. NSC and TSC sent all of their I-129F petitions to CSC on 6/1/06. Since they sent yours also looks like they are continuing to do so. No real idea yet on what that is doing to processing times since nobody that I have seen with a transferred case has been approved yet. I was told by one of my Senator's offices that this is standard USCIS procedure when one center gets overwhelmed by a particular type of petition. They do it apparently to expedite the process. We are all hoping that is the case.

My fiance was living in Maryland when we sent the application to Vermont last August. By September he had been transferred to Florida (Federal government). All he did was contact the VSC and give them the change of address. Even though this officially changed the jurisdiction from Vermont to Texas, it wasn't a problem and there was no delay. However, that was prior to IMBRA so I'm not sure if they've changed the process now. I'm sure you'll be fine, though, as long as you inform them of the move.

Thanks. So, they kept him at VSC?

That is correct. The USCIS web site message saying the letter of approval was "returned as undeliverable... please contact the office (or whatever it said)", was never changed, even though it had been. In fact, they got a little short with him when he contacted them, again, trying to verify that they'd received the address change. They said they had it but they just hadn't updated the message on the web site. Anyway, the most important correspondence is delivered to the beneficiary and, as I hadn't moved, it wasn't a problem.
