Ok.. :help:

This is a week and 2 days after I sent in our K-1 Visa Application and I am starting to sweat..

I just realized that there is a difference between an Embassy.. and a Consolate..

NOW.. I have already sent in our package .. and Question #20 on the I-129F form asks: your fiancé will apply for a visa abroad at the american embassy or consulate at

and I put Berlin Germany which is apparently an Embassy where as Frankfurt is an Embassy/Consolate ?

Why does it not specify CONSOLATE ONLY if that is the only place where Visas are processed?

I'm starting to panic .. thinking this is going to slow down our process or hamper it tremendously :(

Can anyone make heads or tails of this ?? or has anyone else had this problem??

Thanks for any input ..

crayon,

The US embassy in Germany is in Berlin. It has a consular section, I'm sure.

The US may have several stand-alone consulates in Germany, from your post I take it that there is at least one, located in Frankfurt.

The consulates that issue immigrant and K visas are often, but not always, the consular section of the embassy. Don't know which consulate in Germany has an immigrant visa unit - check their web sites.

K and Immigrant visas are only processed at Immigrant Visa Issuing posts. In Germany, the only Immigrant Visa Issuing post is the US Consulate in Frankfurt. Don't worry, the NVC will know where to send your petition...
