I get what the OP is sayin....travelin alone to any foreign country takes a bit of balls imo. But the OP has to follow her heart and know what she is comfortable with...only she knows. Deano's right, the req's are now met, so she could file without going....

I am going to go to pakistan! I told my family! I am looking forward to seeing him and his country!

Yes, there are loads of couples that have visited each others country.

Are you concerned you will go all the way there and he won't be there to meet you?

It's Pakistan... not the safest place in the world.

I get that you have to be careful over there, Mark.

The OP said this....

"I know i should just trust that he will meet me at the airport."

Given what she has said since then, I think she just wasn't clear on her meaning.

I'm happy to see that you decided to go , it's a beautiful country ! Also Dec would be a better time to go , as it's not as hot as it is now. As I said in a earlier reply , I also plan on going. Maybe we could hook up. Anyhow ... Keep us posted.

Oh .. And another thing , that you may already know. Before going you should register with the embassy.

Best wishes & take care :star:

I was in Pakistan for like 2 1/2 weeks in March to see my fiance and other friends. He lives in Lahore and the same week I was scheduled to go there was the attack on the cricket team. I also was later stuck in Sahiwal due to the "Long March" and couldnt travel back to Lahore (missing my honey's b-day until next day). Such unpredictable things just happen in Pakistan but that is life in general so don't be scared. We also traveled to Islamabad & its so nice with the mountains. My mother (like yours) was terrified I was going & I'm 39 years old! (its just something parents do--worry about their children). I wouldn't trade all my crazy days in his country for anything!!! Yes, there are some stupid people that do horrible things in Pakistan like the bombings that kill innocent people but look here in the U.S. at the innocent ones that get gunned down at the mall, at work places or simple places like McDonalds! (Waaaay to many shootings) You can't stop living life as good & bad people are everywhere.

You go and enjoy his culture, let him show you around. :) The whole time I was there I had been there for a solid week and still HAD NOT SPENT ANY MONEY on myself!! My wonderful paki friends (even strangers) were always giving me things, doing things for me & feeding me yummy paki food!! You will see things very different from home but embrace it. It would be great to get a few shalwar kameez to wear as then you will just 'blend in'. Never go anywhere alone period but I'm sure your honey will be with you. Maybe I will uplaod some of my Pk pics here on VJ but feel free to ask me anything. I would love to tell you things to prepare you. Have fun when you go on your trip & go see Daman-e-Koh in Islamabad if you can. :P

My husband is from Pakistan. From Peshawar. InshaAllah some day we will go there He has shown me pics of Islamabad and it is so beautifull. That is the city I would love to see. Its modern, and alot of western people there. I hope you will have a good visit.Pakistanis are very gracious and good hearted people.

Best thing to do is to wear local dress, and dont be too flashy with elegant dress or jewelry. Pakis usually figure out you dont belong in that land just by the way a person walks and talks...dont ask me how. I grew up there, but came to US when I was young. When I visited pak in winter, my wife wanted me to dress all nice going outside, but I always hesitated. Never show your self as a moving "target", especially if you are from US. I didnt even goto our mosque for praying as I was afraid of something happening there.

I am not being stereotypical, but I think and hope you will be less conspicuous in local paki dress than a person of Chinese ethnicity. O yea...Pakistani people like to stare at females alot, like they have never seen a female homosapien....I hate that the most, especially when I was in Pak and men staring at my girl. Any ways, good luck and safe trip.

O yeah you need AC in summer, or you will def die...happy trip :)

O yeah....forgot to add...make sure the place where you are staying has backup power or electric generator, as there are blackout in every pak city half the day. Pak electric company cant keep up with public electric demand, so they turn off off country's power half the day....If you are lucky, may be you will have enough power to make a ceiling fan turn, if not AC. But hey....I am sure you will love candle light dinners
