I am currently preparing for my greencard interview which will be on the 20th this month. I do have one problem, I sent my original BC on my AOS application. I don't know how I overlooked such a thing, I mean everything in the AOS packet I have made a duplicate, everything! Except for that birth certificate. I feel so stupid sending them that original BC and its the only one i got. I looked into ordering one online and it said it would take 6-8 weeks for the delivery. I dont know what to do now. My question is, would the interviewer have the packet I sent in on my AOS application during the interview and if so, would I be able to retrieve my original BC and just have it photocopied and give it to them? Another question: Will they deny me my GC if I dont have that BC on my interview? Please I need your input. Thanks.

I think you can request originals at the interview. You can always get another certified BC. I don't think they will flat out deny your b/c of a birth certificate (which they should have in their files). At worst, they will probably hold off until granting your green card until you provide a certified copy of your birth certificate.

If the USC is the one missing the original BC then you can check with www.vitalchek.com and order a new one through that site :) We got our USC's BC through there and was with us within 5 days or so.

Hope this helps good luck ;)

If you submitted the original birth certificate, i think you can tell the consul during interview about it. I dont think they will ask for the original anymore. As for the interview, i dont think the consul will ask for it. We are from Denver, Colorado, and we were interviewed in Denver last year, and when the consul ask for any documents that bear both our names, we gave the medical insurance card of my husbands company that bear both our names and thats it and i was asked to get a tetanus shot and told us to wait for a week for my conditional greencard for 2 yrs on the mail and after a week i got it..

Thanks for your input everyone. I called parents in the Philippines and they will try to get BC here before interview date. God Bless.

My interviewer had the whole package I sent in and even gave me back some things he didn't require so I am sure if you mention it to him/her they will make a copy and give you back the original.

Married my US citizen husband on 10th February 2006, moved to USA in October 2008, Green Cards approved 6th July 2009.

Oh sweet! My parents are sending me a new one, but I would still want that original BC back if I can. Thank you for the reply.
