Hello all,

I recived an update on my petitions the other day and it says " approval notice has been sent:" for the petition numbers"

Now i understand i have to gor through NVC state. I have few questions , if you all can help.

1. How long does it take NVC to assign a number. So far my calls to the NVC's AVR reslut in " no record found"

2. Since i filed two seperate petitions do i have to file two seperate 864s , one is for my spouse and the other for my infact child ( 2 yrs old)

3. Do i expect NVC to assing two different case numbers

4. Can i simply email instead of sending in DS- 3032 and can i send it now

Tha child, ofcourse is mine. (I am sure you were asking if i adopted him or if my spouse had it before me marrying her. )

Everyone points me to Linches Shoritcuts, however it does not talk about someone in a situation like mine , ie, having not just spouse but an infant child.

Curious to know what others who have gone before me at NVC with similar situation had to do.

Do you have 2 seperate numbers from The USCIS? Or was it just one case number they assigned?

I had 2 step sons go through and they were each assinged there own case number from day one at USCIS and then NVC , the good thing is calling the NVC is a heck of a lot better than USCIS. I paid the IV bill for both and only had to pay one AOS fee bill at $70.00. They both went through the NVC at the same time and their numbes were just on off from the other.

Hoping someone comes along wth better experience. I had a hard time finding someone like me when I first joined and the Kids were in another country and their dad was here.

edit, I asked about the child becasue if you are a USC why is the child not a USC? Were you out of the country ( US ) a lot after you turned 14?

no, I was not out of the country Since I turned 14. Background, I was married when a PR, and thus baby born abroad and that can not make him a citizen. I myself became a USC later on 9/11, 2008.

yes, my spouse and my child were both assinged different petition numbers at USCIS. Numbers were one off during this process. I dont have a number assinged by NVC yet. The AVR says " no record found". I dont knwo if similar numbering scheme conitues at NVC. And that , i am not sure, may also mean I need to pay $355 for each of them as the visa fee - sort of a rip off, but what can i do.

now , about the $70 dollar fee, you only need to file one AOS if the child and mother are coming to join and are my dependents. Even though the tax law did not allow me to claim my child as my dependent since he is abroad and non-citizen, he will be once he gets here. I am sure that is what will happen in my case , and i get that part.

There are some questions in 864, becaseu my situation, that give me headache. I can nto think straight answering them.

Correct, you will have to pay 2 of the IV fee bills ( this is the big one ) and only one AOS fee to the NVC for the both of them. It is the same thing when people bring their mom and Dad, just one AOS fee and then the 2 IV fee bills. Yes you will get 2 different numbers at the NVC. Not sure on the shortcuts how this pertains as we did all of ours overnight ( for a big chunk of change I might add ). Start getting all your ducks in a row as far as the paperwork for the NVC now as this will also save time and get your loved ones here.

Like I stated earlier, calling the NVC is SO much better than the mis information line of the USCIS. Once you are assigned your numbers if questions pop up you can call them.

As far the I-864 it was a nightmare for me as I sponsored the Dad ( 1 immigrante ) and then 2 kids ( plus my daughter ) . I just went ahead and put 5 people on both the I-864 for the kids in case and I was above the line for that number it did not impact it in a negative way.

I am a week behind in approval from USCIS. No hard copy yet, but emails. hopefully tonight i recieve a hardcopy.

can we keep in touch, it seems like you have a NVC case assinged. Did you call to find out your number or was it ont eh NVC Phone system

Please tell me one think, How old was your stepson at teh time of filing . My child is 2 years and few months, i am not sure if and how i would have his DS230 done, or if they will generate a DS3032 for him.

This is where all my confusions rests.

It may seem a common sense that a 2 years old cant sign or read, ( there may be some exceptional cases) but not my child so how do people take care of these issues where there is an infant involved.

Linche shortcut is great, i have been reading it for the past few months. yet it comes short on when people have infants or children involved. I do plan to help add to it after i go trhough my process, so that future paretns wont have to spend anxious hours for nothing.

Or am I thinking too much
