Sorry to be a little silly but...couldn't resist saying....I just glanced at your pictures again Annie and the one in the middle with the babies in the bathtub...your little boy's face (is it Zain?-sorry I am bad with names) looks like he is saying "Yeah...you're darn right...this bubble bath rocks!"

LOL Amanda! He truly LOVES the tub. It's so funny how much they adore water. They cry getting out not going in. :P

Just curious, what do you all do when aunt flo comes and you aren't fasting? Everyone at work is up in everyone else's business so I know I'll get asked at least five or six times why I'm not fasting and it is super embarassing! I know the muslim men won't ask but even eating in front of them is embarassing you know? It's like when a friend of mine told me she doesn't do her nails when aunt flo comes because then everyone will know what's up, you know?

So...do you all just sneak a sammy under the desk or something? In the past I've just been super blunt about it but for some reason this year I don't want anyone asking me.

Well I just eat, it's my busy and they can think what they want. As for the Muslims, I figure they all know anyways. It's usually the non-Muslims that are like "Ohhhh.....who's braking there fast?" To me that is more embarrassing 'cause then I gotta explain the whole "I'm on the rag...OKAY, sheesh!!!" Well, actually I say it a lot more nicely then that of course. :P

I'm curious to hear the responses to this... I've never had to deal with it myself. One time though, A and I went over to a friend's house for dinner here in Egypt and when it was time to pray, the friend (this is the guy who introduced A and I) asked if I was going to pray... I said no, and A looked so embarrassed. Apparently it's not a question that men usually ask women, so he was annoyed that the guy had asked me.

I just sneak it or eat when no one is looking.

Bridget, I'd be annoyed if I worked with such busy bodies but I agree with Jenn's response. I wouldn't hide eating, it's not shameful to eat. God I hate nosey ppl.

only one person asked and she's a woman going through a divorce so i cut her some slack :P Hopefully that will be that till I'm back to fasting.

Does anyone feel lonely when they aren't able to fast? I was soooo down the first day that I couldn't fast! No excitement at iftar, no eating whatever I wanted throughout the night, no sense of celebration at night and no sense of closeness to God during the day. :(

Ok I have a question that I hope someone can answer for me. / My husband works 3rd shift, so Ramadan isn't so hard for him as he sleeps all day cept on the weekends. Now he got changed over to 1st shift for 2 weeks, he forgot about Ramadan before he agreed to work it. Anyways, no matter what, I cannot get him to do anything around the house. Like cut the grass, or finish some work on the patio and deck. His excuse is I'm tired and hungry. Allright but so am I and I still manage to do work around the house. I'm getting very frustrated cause he has enough engergy to go to sales for his books, but not enough to finish what he started around here. I get almost the same excuses when its not Ramadan. And I remember some man making me a promise that he would do all the heavy work, like the yard and such when he got here. And he don't.

Short of hiring someone (which we can't afford) what can I do?

I've seen men over here in Egypt working as day laborers doing construction and stuff in the middle of 100+ degree heat... while fasting. As far as I know, fasting isn't an excuse not to do things that you're obligated to do, if you've made a commitment to do something.
