I know squeaky isn't here to answer but is there something wrong or "unclean" about a muslim man being on a beach or in a pool area where there are women out and about in swim suits and/or bikinis?

Is it related at all to the point of not having any sort of sexual or impure thoughts or visions during this Ramadan season???

just askin

Yup!! it is not permissible to swim where woman are "naked" in ramadan or after, even if you try to control your eyes because a human is weak!

may Allah protect us and make us strong. ameen

i don't see how that's the same logic really. we have various program blocks and such set up on our television so we're not inundated with imagery my husband and i would find offensive, or imagery we don't want our children exposed to. we're able to get through entire episodes of antiques roadshow or history detectives without seeing any gratuitous nudity. we don't have the same control over the outside public world.

my husband's rationale for avoiding those kinds of situations is decidedly different though than what herolmounia says. he avoids them out of respect for me, not because of "weakness" or a lack of resolve or whatever. he just thinks it would be impolite of him- during ramadan, or any other time.

I didn't think of that. "Regular" TV has barely clothed women (and men for that matter) constantly. If you're not watching primetime network TV, then I see how it could be avoidable.

I bet that many people who would not go to the pool for the reason listed above probably do not take the same precautions with the other things they are viewing, but that's just my guess.

I had a really hard time last night breaking the fast. I was in a lot of pain when I started to eat. I am taking a break from fasting today to try to strengthen up. I feel really bad about it. Plus my ex husband is being a super pain today so I am quite emotional this morning. :crying:

Well I am glad to hear that others have heard of refraining from anything sexual or indecent or arousing especially during the times recommended or the season of Ramadan in general.

I got a little upset cuz I said "wait a minute" so if you aren't going for the reasons of Ramdan are you saying that there is the chance, by you seeing scantily clad women, that it arouses you?:unsure: silly me

But like you metioned, it is "human nature"

I didn't want to go on about it cuz let's face it we all have eyes and just because we "see" with them doesn't mean we are looking and even "thinking" indecent thoughts. It is possible to be at a swimming pool or the beach without drooling with mouth dropped open wide.

I just thought it was a little extreme to refrain from spending a grueling hot day at the pool with your family because you feel the bikinied women would be inappropriate for you to be exposed to.

Amanda...I am positive alot of us are irritable due to our hunger, thirst and lack of tobacco I KNOW that our men

can be trying during this time. It is even hard for me to tolerate at times.

In line w/ what was spoken about the pool or tv...I think even the internet such as FB or myspace would be added to that list. I say, just stay home and play board games!:P

I hope everyone's fasting is going smoothly (Amanda ur in my thoughts (F) ). This Ramadan is kinda strange with hubby working late night hours, he breaks fast without us and its just me and my BIL at home w/ the babies. So it kinda stinks except I do look forward to the weekends! So I guess that's the blessing! Even tho this is one heck of a long day of fasting and hot as heck in AZ since its August..its been pretty smooth for me. Thank god for that! :)

I think the part of "the message" that really drew me in was when they went to Ethiopia and were talking to the Christian leader guy and he says "there is but a fine line between us and you" or something of that nature. The guys answers to "Christian dudes" questions made me realize it too. Best part of the movie imho :)

question....

I've read that if u're sick and have a lot of mucus drainage...that u're unable to fast due to stuff going down ur throat...anyone know if there's any truth to that or not?
