SFH in 'safe-land' here runs around 500-750K.

I did see a news thingy about an architect that designed a home site for his family that ran about 1.2M... although the house puts electricity into the power grid... making him money from the power co.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

In the city? Or burbs?

In the citay. In the burbs here I could get a nice SFH for half of that... and lower taxes too. But I do not like the commute. Chicago's commute is second to LA's in BAD. A solution would be somewhere like Oak Park... right at the city's edge, with the Chicago Transit Authority (train) accessing it... but imagine an urban suburb where X # of Nobel laureates, former Astronauts, and famous writers have lived. Fancy shmancy.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

These 600K SFH's, how much of a commute to the major employment centers?

15 minutes from the beach and 20 minutes from downtown los angeles. L.A. isn't like NYC where there are real centers of employment, it is spread out fairly.

I'd avoid the one on Indian Hill.

I have no plans to live in that part of town :jest:

Seriously, though if that's what someone earning $100k can hope to buy on the Westside, I think it shows how far we have to go before the housing market corrects itself

By my parents' in Ocean County, there are 2-3 bedrooms in good school districts going for @ 200K. They are old, but have character... i like character.

Ocean's the boonies though, you can't commute into NYC from Ocean. Around here you're just 5 minutes away from a 40 minute train ride!

NYC doesn't need me anymore...

There are gang members in Lakewood who need people like me to bring them to private pools!

But yo.. Louisiana????

You are right... i better get the right color snorkle.
