Hello,

Me and my SO are filling for the K-1 at the end of the month (Can't wait!)

However, being the paranoid type, I like to read ahead....wayyyy ahead. And I noticed for when you get the NOA2, they request more proof of an ongoing relationship...only this time it's from NOA1-present. I MIGHT be going to visit him within that time frame (Will have photo's and such if I do), but if I don't...we don't really have much proof. I talk to him over the internet, using a program called Ventrilo (basicly an online phone)....so there's no phone bills, or emails really, because we are ALWAYS talking on that program. Unless we are at work, we text. Will that suffice?

Thanks :)

It is not paranoid to plan ahead. But I believe you have mis=read something. They do not ask for proof of ongoing realtionship with the petition (I-129f) though some people choose to send it. The I-129f asks for evidence of meeting in person one time in the last two years, that is all. Proof of ongoing realtionship will be asked for at the visa interview. Have some.

You will need to do SOME of your communication by a means that generates evidence, phone calls, emails, etc. Even a pen and paper and postage stamps.

May i ask....... would it help if they )or me and my Fiance) set up a bank account togethar after filing the I-129F?? i find myself in a similar situation

Vent provides no proof whatsoever... so whether or not a record of texts will suffice as proof of an ongoing relationship is really up to the CO.

However, instead of relying on that, make life easier on yourself and start to create other proof. Send emails back and forth. Fire off a letter if feasible once in awhile. Obviously, the more you can provide if requested, the better off you'll be.

My fiance and I also use the program a fair bit, as we play together online and that is the client of choice... however, we've changed our habits to include programs like MSN/AIM, emails, frequent texts, etc, to load up on evidence as much as we can.

And, as Gary stated, this evidence isn't required until the interview stage, though many (like myself) chose to include some in the package we mailed off. Also, even if you bring a great deal of evidence to Montreal, they may not even ask for it... but you'll feel plenty better that you had plenty on hand and it wasn't needed than if they ask for some and you can't really provide.

If you really want to use your Skype records, what you can do is take a "screenshot" of your history tab. Open it and hit the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard. It will take a picture of whatever is beign shown on your computer screen. But it wont be automatically saved, it will only be stored on your "transference area" (sorry I don't know how to translate that right), so you need to open a picture edition software, like Paint, and paste it... just do a CTRL V there, and the image will apear. Now you can save and print it.

Ooooo I like that idea. Thank you ScottThuy :)

Since Ventrilo has no way of recording anything...unless I record our actual convo lol. Were going to start sending postcard back and forth.

Thanks all!

I do not think a bank account will suffice as proof. I had the same question once before. I dont think it proves anything unfortunately. :(

No worries... Unfortunatly they dont give printed chat logs much weight as they can be easily faked... The post cards is cheap and can be fun.. you never know when a snail mail will be there and what he will say... ;) just remember to keep them all...

I wasn't asked for a single piece of evidence during my interview (I am guessing that is what you mean). They rely on questions more so than written proof (though I sent all of my proof with my application).

Emails and chat logs are fine, if you use something like msn you can take screenshots of the chat with using you webcam (we used webcams and mics).

It isn't like you are in a high fraud country, it is Canada, across the border, Emails and chats will hold more weight than they would in another country.

Goodluck!.

Lollee,

Chris and I use Ventrillo when we are gaming, but your right no way of keeping chats.

Greatest invention on the planet however is a program called Skype (www.skype.com) go download it, set up an account each and use that for your msging and talking, you can then print out every converstation you have ever had if you feel the urge, plus there are programs where you can extract the call logs, or you can simply print out screen shots of the saved information.

On the plus side, Skype is much more like being on the phone, and heaps clearer too!

In the end the best piece of evidence you could have is a couple of pics together (specially since you are not too far apart), if you cant make it down to the USA, perhaps him coming to you for the Thanksgiving long weekend is an option...

PS, it is amusing the number of couple I see floating around on here because of WoW and Blizzard, that game has made a lot of lives very different...

Sorry on my post earlier I totally confused Ventrillo with Skype! And yeah, I recomend it because it leaves a log of when a call was made and how much time it lasted, so it might be used for material proof, I believe. Also, as far as I researched, they have the best free webcam software I've seen. Just check the website, it is pretty simple setup too. Sorry for the little propaganda, but it makes my life beign appart so much easier, I believe it is worth telling others to use it.

PS: Oh gosh, I met my fiance on World of Warcraft too.

We need a thread to get together or something. Kirin Tor US here. I blame all on a pink elf and a gnomie ;)
