Please any advice would be be appreciated !!!

Me and my husband married in Ghana last year I filed the I130 & the K3 they were both approved on May 13 2009 finally. Yet all we have done is get the run around. I went to Ghana a few weeks ago as he has finished his medicals and they would not give him an interview call in letter. However the embassy US citizen services basically told me to leave and I had to call or email the conslur. Finally on my last day there they emailed me back and said they sent my husband a call in letter. As of today its been 3 weeks and he still has not recieved it. This is going on 11 months. They will not email me back and can not reach them, they will not let him back in the embassy without the call in letter and or appointment, they have taken his visitors visa months ago. We already gave them bank statements, my lease agreement and bills. What should I do?

Also does anyone know about taxes. I requested an extension this year thinking he would be here by the extension deadline with a social security number because the embasy did not know how to notarize an w7 for an Iten number. I did not want to file single , figured it would give them something else to complain about. And I have to pay as filing single. Is this going to be a reason to deny because wont they wont my 08 tax returns at the interview. Should I just suck it up file and pay?

Any advice appreaciated. I am losing my mind battleing these people over there.

I recommend going to your US Senator's office.

Each Senator has a person that handles constituant services.

If you start a case for your spouses' visa - they will know people in the Embassy or US Gov't that can assist you.

Good luck!

Are you saying that he already sent in the packet 3? So, he is just waiting for the "interview call in letter" that gives the interview date and time?

How long does mail usually take there? 3 weeks sounds like a long enough time, but some countries mail systems are preety damn slow.

If 3 weeks is plenty of time there in Ghana and you guys truly think that it has been lost in the mail, and the consulate wont answer your emails anymore...you could ask your congressman to shoot them an email and ask that they either send out another packet, OR if he can come pick it up from the embassy) thats the only thing I can think of to do

As long as you show that you filed for an extension, you should be ok.

Good Luck and I hope that helped..I can tell you are at your wits end (F)

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

The extension give you relief only on submitting the paperwork. If any money is owed you will be charged interest and penalities from April 15th .

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

They typically will respond to Congressional e-mails. Let your Senator's office e-mail them. I did that and they responded with my spouse to come with the e-mail to enter the Embassy.

Regarding the taxes, you can file for the ITIN which you can use to file your taxes. All you need are copies of the marriage certificate, your spouse passport pages with the picture on it, your spouse birth certificate. Complete your tax return on PAPER with your spouse name and leave the SS# column blank. Mail the return (Filing Joint) to the address on the W-7 instructions ( I think it's Texas). They will assign your spouse an ITIN for the taxes, process your tax return as joint and mail you a check or deposit into your account. You can send me private e-mail and I will direct you as well. I went through the same.
