Newark, NJ Office - Oath

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if any VJ-ers out there who had interviews in newark and had the same day oath, if you had a name change?

I will be doing a name change and I'm just wondering if that's going to delay my oath as far as this office is concerned. I know other offices delay for sure, but I'm hoping since they do do same day oath, I can be done on the same day as my interview.

Any insight from Newark VJ-ers?

Cheers

My understanding is that name changes cannot be done same day because a federal court must first approve the name change.

In case any one else is wondering, I've found other people's experiences by searching google and it seems like because the court is actually in the same compound as the immigration office that same day oath with name change is possible in Newark :) woot.

Hello CColdwell,

So I am wondering whether back in 2009 when you did your same day oath at NEwark, you get your name change paperwork on spot?

And did you later on visit the court house to get extra certified copies for the purpose of changing SSN, name on your bank account, etc?

Please let me more about your name change experience at newark if you happen to read this post!

Thank you so much!
