Dr Seiden's website says that

Do I still need immunizations if I am pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to get pregnant?

Pregnant or breastfeeding women are not exempt from immunization requirements unless there is a medical contraindication to them receiving a specific vaccine. You will need a legible note from your doctor outlining the reason for the contraindication. For additional information on immunizations and pregnancy

So that would be if i get a reason from my doctor that would risk me getting this shot?

You still have to get if you are pregnant according to this guy? Sorry but THAT is ridiculous. Id on't plan on putting as much as a Tylenol in my body when I'm pregnant.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

^^ I don't think so. Contraindication is a medical term that means something is inadvisable.

Here is the definition:

Contraindication: A condition which makes a particular treatment or procedure inadvisable. A contraindication may be absolute or relative.

* An absolute contraindication is a situation which makes a particular treatment or procedure absolutely inadvisable. In a baby, for example, aspirin is absolutely contraindicated because of the danger that aspirin will cause Reye syndrome.

* A relative contraindication is a condition which makes a particular treatment or procedure somewhat inadvisable but does not rule it out. For example, X-rays in pregnancy are relatively contraindicated (because of concern for the developing fetus) unless the X-rays are absolutely necessary.

For a pregnancy, a vaccination is definitely a contraindiction. A nursing mother wouldn't might be absolute, or it might be relative...since you technically can take certain medication while nursing... I'm not sure since I'm not a Dr. Obviously there is a chance that the Dr. will say that it is inadvisable to have done while nursing.... but maybe the Dr. will say that it is not harmful...

If they require you to have the vaccine and you refuse, then you have 2 options 1) file for the waiver and 2) have your fiance immigrate to Canada. Immigration is not a joke, if you don't want to follow the U.S.'s requirements then don't, but don't expect them to treat you any different. Good luck on whatever you decide!

Gardisil was something that was made effective the day after we had our medical, I guess the doctors didn't really know about it just yet cause we didnt need to get it for my daughter. If we had to get it for her I would of done the waiver or not moved at all.

Gardisil does not prevent 4 types of cervical cancers heck even on the CDC website it clearly states "it may protect you from 2 types of cervical cancer and may protect against 2 types of HPV diseases". So to me that's a pretty big risk to take with your life.

Also their used to be some major upset when one of the makers of the vaccine refuses to allow his own daughter to get it. They also don't know what other cells that are dormant will become active and what they will cause. Could be much more serious that the ones that they know of already.

My child will not be one of their guinea pigs. But that's just me.

Yeah there are many other topics on this with discussion. I'm a big believer in it being someone's choice unless an entire nation of people would become at risk. (ie. polio or rubella)

Swine flu is the newest world wide disease but if they end up getting a vaccination for it, I guarantee you they won't be making it a MUST for any one, especially adults. I'm glad I never had to get it.
