I was wondering in order to get my mom to come to my wedding in the states if it would be adviceable for her to apply for a visitors visa now or should she wait until i arrive in the USA?

Robert, I would try to find out from the embassy how long it usually takes to get a visitor's visa and/or how long it would be valid. Also a consideration is how soon you will marry after your arrival in the U.S. If you plan on getting married right away then they should definitely apply before you arrive.

Hey Robert,

When my fiance applied for a visitors visa we filled out the application on line and then went to the paymaster got a resiept and then went back online and made an appointment, it took 3 weeks to get the appointment...hope that gives you an idea, if you are still looking at a Sept wedding then just wait and when you go for the interview for your K-1 ask them about your mom coming to visit you. Also once you arrive in the states write a letter for your mom to give them stating that you are inviting her to the states for your wedding.

My grandmother got her visitor visa and it's valid for a year. She has until next yr Jan to travel on it.

06/01/07 - Faxed change of address request to NVC

06/08/07 - NVC confirmed new address

06/18/07 - DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) & AOS (I-864) Fee Bill generated

06/23/07 - Recv'd DS-3032 & AOS Bill via snail mail

07/09/07 - Emailed DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) to NVC
