Hello all... My SO received our NOA2 hardcopy in the mail yesterday... can I make an appointment for my medical without it in my hands or do I just need it when I go? Also, do I need it to get the police check??

Also, I called NVC today and they said they sent the package to Montreal today... do you know roughly how long until they send me Packet 3?

Thanks... and happy wishes :)

Hello there and congrats on your approval!

When you go to the medical you need to show a correspondence with the consulate showing your name and case number. For a K-1, this would be the front page of your packet 3. I would wait until I had the packet in my hand to schedule the appointment. The packet also gives you a little more information on where to go, who to contact, and what to expect (but i stress "a little more"). You don't need to have the medical completed before you send back your packet, and the wait for an interview in Montreal is generally a couple months, so you won't be delaying yourself!

You can get your police check anytime. Its good for a year. I got mine right after I found out my petition was approved and before my case made it to the consulate. It was just one thing to check off the list!

It took us about 3 weeks to get our packet 3 after the case left the NVC. I don't know if that's a typical wait or not... but good luck with everything!

I would say the same thing, to wait until you get the packet to be sure you are seeing the right doctor. If you're coming from Montreal, I believe you have a wee bit longer time to wait than from Vancouver. I was in SC when we got the approval for the petition, (Apr. 16th) and didn't get back home here, (BC) until about May 2nd. My Packet 3 was waiting. I think it arrived Monday or Tues. before I came home. ( A nice gift) I quickly got the police records done, that took two weeks to get, and had already gotten my long form BC a while back. With Vancouver's Consulate, I went to a website to fill in and print off the forms that I needed, but I think that Montreal is a little different.

Congratulations on the approval!
