Hi,

This is my first time posting although I've visited this site many times. I'm wondering if anyone has applied for a Maryland driver's license since June 1st when they began requiring proof of legal presence. My husband arrived on a K-1 visa. He has recieved his Employment Authorization Card (I-766) and his AOS is still pending. When I called the DMV today to see what they accept as proof, the woman said that she believes they only accept the I-776 employment card. Has anyone tried to get an Maryland DL using an I-766? I just want to know so I don't waste my time driving out to Bel Air for nothing.

A lot of the DMVs now require EAD or GC to issue a Driver's License. It varies by state.

Yeah, I already looked at that. All of the accepted documents are not listed (see the last bullet point). When I called, the woman said that she thought that my husband's employment authorization card would be accepted, but wasn't sure (you think she would know since she works there, but I guess you can't expect much from state employees ;) )

Anyway, if anyone from MD has actually tried to get one using an EAD and would be willing to share their experience, that would be helpful.
