ME/NA yahoo group?

VJ is for visa discussion. It seems we cannot have our "regional discussions" and sharing of cultural ideas amongst ourselves without all kinds of extra curricular criticisms (just like this one), so we are moving THOSE discussions elsewhere so we will not disturb or tempt others into such controversy and give Ewok a little peace. (Although I'm sure we will still kick around bits and pieces now and then.)

So regarding the sharing of visa information... and even MISinformation... we'll just continue on with that. Thank you for your concern.

Sharing recipes, swapping tips on how to deal with arab men and talking politics are somethings that shouldn't need supervision of the authorities. Visa issues will still be dealt with here, but it would be nice to have a place to hang out where we could actually, well, be ourselves without someone trolling in.

Yep. From time to time, I hope we still share some things here because other VJ members who are not involved with ME/NA forum and even those who are new coming in said they have gotten benefit from the articles and experiences shared here about the culture.

I hadn't thought about that. We have very few guys here in this section of VJ. What do you all think?

If we're going to be sharing photos I would be more comfortable in a ladies only setting BUT it may be just me so do whatever you all want.. I'll be there none the less

Sorry for those who weren't invited yet. I have the invite stuff here on my work computer, and now that I'm back at work, I'll get right on the invites. LB, can you pm me your email?

Also, we've had a few non ME/NA people ask to join the group. I think at this point in time, we're just going to keep it to those who have a SO from the ME/NA. Sorry, I'll let people know if we're going to expand it.

Also, what I'd really like is to eventually set up a little message board type thing, since yahoo groups has been messing around with things and it's got something screwy going on with the way you read messages.

But, it would have to be something completely confidential, so no one could come in and steal our pics and stuff. Unfortunatly, the extend of my computer knowledge is yahoo groups, msn and posting on message boards. I have no idea how to even set one up.

im not sure how to set up a message board either......i will have to see what i can tinker around with when i heal, unless someone else beats me too it.....i know there are a bunch of boards that have hosting....myspace is one of em that would be something to think about..............

It's a bit of a quandry about non-ME/NA and male members... it seems wrong to exclude people who want to be included... maybe a second broader-scoped group? Rahma... what have you gotten yourself into? LOL I will help all I can if you need it, but after Sunday my time is going to be extremely limited.

Google groups has a good message board format and quick delivery of messages. However, no options (that I am aware of) for pictures/files/links. In one group I belong too we use Google for messages and a Yahoo group (by the same name) for the photos, links, etc.

As far as non VJ members, there are many groups out there for these relationships in general so my two cents would be not to include outsiders at this time.

I am on the fence about the men. I personally would prefer no men but also would feel bad about excluding members from this forum.

Perhaps we could set up a message board (I'm off to snoop them out) that would include the male members and non-ME/NA, but keep the Yahoo group for our sharing of personal information, pictures, and things like that? (Rahma give me a shout out if its ok with you that I'm checking this out please... I don't want to step on toes.)
