Hey, would ya'll be interested in a ME/NA yahoo group? It can be made invitation only and you can set it so that you can read all the messages online so your inbox isn't cluttered.

I can set one up if there's enough interest.

07/15/09 - Citizenship ceremony. Alhamdulilah, the US now has another american muslim!

All righty, inshaAllah I'll set it up this afternoon, and then everyone can pm me their emails. I've got to clean out my pm box, so if it bounces, send it again tomorrow.

I'd also like to make this a resource in addition to a for those of us who have significant others in the ME/NA. If you can think of any great posts that were made here with info, see if you can find them. We can make them into documents and upload them into the group.

There will also be a section with subsections for links, so we can collect websites that we've found useful on immigration, culture, religion, food, etc.

If anyone else has any suggestions or things they want to see, please don't be afraid to say your piece!

Can it be set so that a moderator has to approve applicants?

inshaAllah that's what I'm hoping. I think I'll have it invite only, so that it doesn't show up on the main yahoo groups page, and only members can invite new members to join. After our initial group is in, I think I will set it up so that we will only allow new members on the recommendation of current members, or after they have established themselves on VJ so that we know they aren't playing us.

Ok ya'll, group is set up. I'll be sending out the first round of invites soon. Please email me a yahoo email if you have one, becaue I think that makes it easier to play around in the group features.

If you don't receive an invite, please pm me again tomorrow to remind me. I'm flying by the seat of my pants here :hehe:

Also, I plan on inviting ALL the VJers involved with ME/NA people who ask. I know that there are some internal ongoing spats between our little group, but I ask you to please leave those at the door when you're posting in the yahoo group.
