Many folks think apparently think the economic troubles get solved overnight. Its not uncommon to see folks dissatisfied with the current state of affairs given many are still losing jobs, unemployed, or underemployed. The Republican solution is sadly, awarding those at the top of the economical ladder by giving them more tax breaks for things to trickle down some.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Ummm the vote was last November... Your boys lost big, and are sinking fast. Nice and pretty source free graphic though.

This is just the trend baby. I'm sure you guys were saying the same thing in 1978 and 1992, but go back and take a look at 1980 and 1994. You are only seeing history repeat itself. 2010 will look exactly the same.

Its not that those without insurance can't afford it, they just can't afford it at today's rates (Or choose not to).

Or choose not to is often the case.

Typical person I know pays 50-85 bucks a month for cable TV alone, add cell phones, and the SUV payment and you can see where their priorities are.

Now obama has em convinced under his plan they will be getting Healthcare for little or nothing.

Sad thing is...he will be partly right for as long as it lasts.

The republicans invented abortion, didn't have it before Nixon and his choice of supreme court justices with that 5-4 vote. Don't they like abortion anymore? What about all those black people Nixon hated having kid after kid?

Why are our laws made by nine politically appointed men, yeah, some women too? What about representation and let the nation decide these issues. And are we really being represented by our leaders? Could any of our leaders pass the citizenship civics test? Really doubt that.

Well, if other elective surgeries aren't covered under health care, then why should abortion be covered?

in canada it's considered an authorised procedure, but the waiting list is 10 months.

Is that after conception, or six months later when the women finally realizes she may be pregnant? Anyway, would be interesting to learn as to how they perform an abortion after that time period.

Hmm....Well, if the Republican will support universal health care by excluding abortion, I'd say it is a start in the right direction or attempt to get it into the right direction. Lets accept that exclusion everyone.

It's a starting point. :yes::thumbs:

Done.

If it's elective, then it shouldn't be covered.

That being said, there should be a set pay scale for these kinds (and many other kinds) of procedures... if you want it done, it costs X amount (inclusive of anesthesia, etc...)

For a single young health person, you are looking at at least $150/mo for a high deductible health plan. That's about as cheap as you can get private insurance for. It goes up from there, an expect rate increases of at least 10-15% a year.

As a young healthy person, the usual choice is to go without health coverage. Just chance it. It works too, because you can still get "free" care in emergency rooms. Your credit rating will such for a few years, but you got the rest of your life to get it back up. But it still cost the system to provide the care, and will likely get the money back through higher rates to those who can afford it.

So put it another way, those who can pay are really paying for a care not just for themselves, but for everyone else who could afford insurance, but choose not to.

...as opposed to the Dem solution of rewarding failed and mismanaged companies with billions in public money with little oversight as to how it's spent ( citibank...etc).

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!
