4 hours is not unrelistic. We flew out of Manila to Detroit on Northwest airlines last February 2009 and we were at the airport in Manila 3 hours early. The lines are long and actually I would not be any less than 3 hours early..Justin Case :star: ..

Your fiancee will have to pay a departure tax in addition to the 750 departure fee. This has to be paid prior to you checking in at the airline counter. No one told us and we had to get out of line at the arline counter and pay the fee and then get back in line at the checkin counter.

Be there 4 hours early. There are actually 2 taxes. One for 1650 called the travel tax which may have been paid in advance depending upon how your ticket was purchased and the departure tax of 750.

Definately be there 4 hours early. In the States the airlines always recommend that you arrive atleast 2 hours prior to departure but if you have any problems at all that is cutting it close. Better to be early. If there are no problems which there probably won't be you can walk around and shop at the stores inside the airport or just relax and wait for your flight. That sure beats running in to any kind of problem and being stressed out hoping you won't miss your flight and trust me if you are late they are not going to hold that plane for you. Good luck and have a safe trip. Mike

I have to disagree that you need to be at the airport 4 hours before your flight. I have flown out of Manila 3 times and it has taken me no more that 45 minutes to check in, pay the terminal fee and get through the security check points. You need to leave some cushion of course but 4 hours is way too much. 3 hours is more than enough but certainly safe (we arrived a little more than 2.5 hours ahead just last Saturday and had a lot of time to wait at the gate).

Do what you want but I have traveled all over the world and you never know what kind of problems you may encounter..Yes chances are you won't have any but the first time you do I guarantee the next time you fly anywhere you wont hesitate for a second to get there a few hours early and wait for your flight.
